Other thread mentions that the 10 Commandments doesn't mention punishment. The 10 Words are merely chapter headings same as one sees in any legislation. For the entire legislation given to Moses by God one must include all of the 613 positive and negative statements. see Google for lists.

see http://www.aish.com/jl/m/48945081.html for a nice list.

Not sure that the OP point is. Many of the 613 laws you refer to are specific to time and situation, and no longer in affect.

In human goverment, I would agree that "law without punshiment is merely advise" But often, the motive for human goverment in giving, say a parking ticket, is more money for the city - thus the city council will put a punshiment (ticket fine) on the violation.
Here in the Salt City, the law requires you to feed the parking meters on Saturday. Howver, the meter maids only work Mon-Fri. Thus virtually no one revicieves a ticket on Sat (unless - heaven forbid - you park in a crippled spot). Thus in essence there is not pushiment for illegal Sat parking - thus plenty of folks who will exceed thier time at the parking meter.

With God, justice is His motive for complience. And yes, there is punshiment for breaking even one of the Ten Commendamensts -
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin.

My point is that in another thread a post claimed that there was no punishments connected to the 10 Commandments. Without punishment, law is merely advice. The other 603 commandments specify the details of the 10 chapter headings and their punishments.

Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin.

THE LAW, not the 10 Commandments.

Using common sense - which Jews seem to have in greater abundance than Christians - the Rabbis realize that it is not possible to comply with the legislation that requires a functioning temple. They understand that males cannot comply with female regulations and vice versa. All the rest is MORAL Law and is still valid for Jews.

For you who claim that only the 10 commandments apply to Christians because only the 10 are mentioned in the NT, please note that there is no prohibition of lesbian activity in the NT nor any mention of abortion.

Actually only 8 1/2 are mentioned. There is no mention of keeping the Sabbath (Sat) and the OT states ...Not kill, but the NT states ...Not murder.

I would say that Rom 1:26-27 includes lesbian as well as men.

True, the Bible does not use the word "abortion" but the killing of a yet-to-be-born baby is nothing short of murder.

Thats like saying the Ten Commandants prohibit adultery, but not fornication.

The punishment for violation of any part of any one of the ten commandments is eternal separation from the Lord. The whole purpose of it was to demonstrate that no one could keep all the ten commandments and no one was worthy of eternal life with the Lord.

The problem here is that you are taking something from another thread without providing the context.

In that other thread you wished to imply that conservative Christians would want death as the penalty for gay sin because in your mind that was consistent with conservative Christians wanting to see the 10 Commandments posted in public buildings.

It was pointed out to you then that the 10 Commandments in themselves do not provide for a particular penalty so your logic was faulty.

And again in this thread your logic is faulty.

This thread as constructed by you is silly and pointless.
