A bit of a spoof, but hopefully it sparks some thought

BNN (Bible Network News) - Millions upon millions of people lost their lives yesterday in a catostrophic flood that has seemingly covered the entire world. Man of God and prophet Noah remarked, "God said to me, 'The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.'"

Being divinely warned of this judgment Noah built a large boat according to what God told him to do. Not only Noah, but 3 of his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth along with their wives joined Noah on the boat.

Animals from every kind were brought in pairs onto the boat as well according the commandment of God.

It is hard to tell how many have perished in the deluge, but it is certain that none but Noah and his family and animals have survived.

Reporting from the Ark, this is Shem.

Of course, God had nothing to do with this disaster, but he might have permitted it. We cannot know if it was a judgment on the wicked.

God rescued the righteous in Noah's day.

Would His judgement today involve the death of His children?

Would you contend that every 'natural' disaster is God's judgement on thar region?

So now He just abandons them to natural disasters.

That's supposed to make me feel better about Him?

He never "abandons" His children, but they do die in disasters along with the wicked everyday.

True, but the question is - BIBLICLALLY when God pours out His judgment upon the unrighteous, does he do so irregardless of His children.

Thus do we have any bibilcal evidence of this? No.

Doesn't God's judgement reflect His justice? And if does, what justice is truely just when those who are not under condemnation are left to be partakers as those who are under condemnation?

I have never said that God judged Haiti. Others have said that. My only point was that the righteous die with with wicked everyday.

    I think these verses applies...
    Luke 13:1-5
    (1) About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were sacrificing at the Temple in Jerusalem.
    (2) "Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than other people from Galilee?" he asked. "Is that why they suffered?
    (3) Not at all! And you will also perish unless you turn from your evil ways and turn to God.
    (4) And what about the eighteen men who died when the Tower of Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem?
    (5) No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will also perish."

    Natural disasters are just that...
but men are always looking to find a reason.. so much so that they become like Job's friends... "you must have sinned"...
    Or like the disciples here

    John 9:1-3
    (1) As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth.
    (2) "Teacher," his disciples asked him, "why was this man born blind? Was it a result of his own sins or those of his parents?"
    (3) "It was not because of his sins or his parents' sins," Jesus answered. "He was born blind so the power of God could be seen in him.

Jesus even says it rains on the just and the unjust.

If this thread is alluding to PR remarks on Haiti.. there is a big difference between him and Noah.

God actually spoke to Noah! LOL
God warned of the impending doom.. and did it specifically...
He told them yrs ahead that a flood was coming...
He didn't spring it on them and say.. "OH.. That's right.. you were bad so I killed you"

God gives warnings.. He is not willing that ANY should perish...

Now Robertson's remarks would have been remarkable if he would have told them last yr.. If you don't renounce the curse.. God is going to send an Earthquake to Port au Prince... NOW if Robertson would have done that, he might have a leg to stand on today...

There will be natural disasters.. until the end of time...
They are not tied in with specific sins of specific people ....

If they were we would all die!.. notice Jesus' words above..
    (5) No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will also perish."

There is not a country on earth that is sinless.
There is not a city on earth that is sinless.
There is not a community on earth that is sinless.
There is not a neighborhood on earth that is sinless.
There is not a church on earth that is sinless.
There is not a family on earth that is sinless.
There is not a person on earth that is sinless.

WE all deserve to be destroyed the way Haiti was...
But we live in the age of Grace.. and God is warning...

But one day... when the time is up..
God WILL pour his wrath out on ALL the earth.

Silly goose, that was not intended TO you but was going off of your comment. That is why I stated what you said was true, but the real question that needs asking (in relation to the OP)... Sorry for the confusion.

I agree, believers and unbeliever alike die everyday and even through all types of distasters. No where in scripture does it state, insinuate, or allude to all natural disasters are specifically God's judgment upon the godless heathen.

God has used all types of means to bring forth His judgment agaist godlessness but just becuase God used men to bring His judgment upon a particular people does not mean that all killings are God's judgment against the godless heathen.

However, there is another side to this coin as well. That being nothing happens that God does not authorize to take place. Natural or not it still transpires according to plan and will of God. This doesn't mean judgment, just that God still is in control of all things that happen.

Sorry Allan. I was confused. So what else is new huh?

I agree with you. And we shouldn't forget that we have an enemy. His goal is to kill.

God will have mercy upon whom He will have mercy. The fact that God judges some and not others is according to His own purposes. But the warning is there, unless you repent, you will likewise perish.

It seems to me, as I pointed out in another thread, that under the New Covenant God's judgment begins with the Church. (1 Peter 4:17 points this out) How is God judging His people in light of this?

The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men.

God is judging the the pride and idolatry of the world every day. Peter's words that judgment must begin at the house of God is not saying that God is not judging the world until He first judges the Church. He is saying that it's time for persecution, and a time to glory in that one was counted worthy to suffer with Christ.
