Hair getting darker with age

I saw this when I clicked on "new posts" (don't visit this forum for obvious reasons ) and just wanted to say mine has gotten darker. My father was born blonde, stayed blonde through his childhood and teens, and then it became medium brown. I always thought it was strange as a child as I was the same, blonde. Now my hair is light / medium brown as well, but it does still get lighter in the summer. I'm 38, btw. I think God does it so we can get a better look at the gray

 

This is normal and actually means you're going to start turning gray very soon. No kidding. This has happened to everyone I know. My hair was always brown then began turning darker and darker until it was nearly black. Shorty thereafter, I started getting very gray. I don't think this happens to blonds though.

 

I had medium brown hair as a kid, and then it went black as a teen. I now, at 41, have a couple of gray hairs but very few. My dad went gray at 28, but my mom is 1/4 Cherokee so I seem to take the hair from her side.

 

I had hair as a child. Mine really isn't turning much of as color as much as it is turning loose.

 

My hair was almost white when I was a kid, turned rather brown and then in my 40's began turning white again. Now it is WHITE.

 

Yep, I started out light brown and went to very dark ash brown, then to grey (Sorry ABC) very quickly! Now I'm back to dark ash brown again; imagine that!

I just wanted say in agreement that I don't usually visit this forum either; just happened to catch the new post also, okay? :laugh:

 

Mine has and my oldest followed in his mama's footsteps and let his move from blonde to dark brown in his 20's.

 

That's because you have so many girls. Makes your hair fall out every time.

my husband and son had bright blonde hair as children, but sandy dirty blonde now, much darker then before.
Maybe you aren't getting as much sun as before and it isn't staying sun bleached.

 

madre's hair has turn all 52 shades of L'Oreal. What in the name of Sam Hill kind of color is Frosted Sunlight? I've long since forgotten what her hair color really is. I've had two colors - black and gray - or would that be Sable and Silvery Moon?

Any of you girls admit to coloring your head in a shade of red that falls somewhere between a fire truck and a Barnum and Bailey employee?

Note: I don't usually visit with the womenfolk either but I didn't want SBCpreacher and Benjamin to feel alone.

 

My hair was very blonde when I was a kid, but got darker when I was in middle school, then quite a bit darker after I had my first kid.

A few years ago, I started noticing some gray, so now I color it. It's called 'Praline,' which is a blondish-reddish-brown. LOL So Padre, I'm admitting it!!

Gwen, ain'y Praline some sort of New Orleans candy? Might explain why the hair is all brown and sticky.... :tongue3:

Now that a couple of us Men! have infiltrated where the womenfolk hang out can somebody do some explaining? Wednesday, madre drove 75 miles - one way - to the hair lady. She started going there 20 years ago when we lived down the block from the same lady. Then we moved 75 miles away. Do you think she could find someone else? :BangHead: Then we moved 225 miles away. Can you really justify driving 450 miles to get your hair done?

Anyway, she gets back from the hair lady and looks exactly like she did before she left. I have figured out, after 30 years of marital bliss, that she did not travel 150 miles just to chat with the hair lady. I took madre's face in my hands and said, "Ooo, what have we done here?" Wouldn't you know she blurted out the whole thing. The hair lady did something with the roots, frosted another thing, then trimmed and layered the whole shebang. No kidding! She was gone 4 1/2 hours, spent two months worth of salary, don't get me started on the carbon credits from driving halfway across the state just so she could look just like she did before she left.

Wait! There is more. We go out to dinner with friends on Friday night. Steve inseminates cows for a living. We don't shake hands. Carla, his wife, throws her arms around madre and says, "Oh, I love what you've done with your hair!" madre gushes and Steve and I wander over to read the dinner specials.

Yall go to school for this hair thing or is it in your DNA?

 

My mom's hair was blonde when she was young, and it has darkened tremendously.

My hair was biracial black growing up (meaning it had tints of red in it.) Now it looks like people keep throwing salt in it.
