I'm surprised that no one has commented on this yet. I simply wanted to see what people here thought of Baylor, a school that claims to be Baptist, hiring an active Church of Christ member to be president, and then coercing him to join a Baptist church?

    Baylor is a Baptist school?

;)....feeling kinda quirky tonight...sitting in a government office waiting for something...anyhoo, meh was my thought

If you want to be the Baptist Ivy League you need to hire someone with academic credibility. This seems more like a celebrity hire, but I could be wrong.

I stand corrected...Starr was baptized in the Church of Christ, but has been active in a non-denominational, evangelical church.

Here is what Starr said in 2004 as he was hired as dean at Pepperdine:

Baylor ceased to be anything that resembles "Baptist" eons ago.

Eons is right, but I was still surprised at Starr.

Ken Starr is a good man. He's not a Baptist, and neither is Baylor.

You could plug the name "Max Lucado" in the place of Ken Starr and it would be true also.

I agree. Off track: I love Max Lucado's writing!

Mr. Starr may not be a conservative, typical church of Christer.
