Jehovah vs. LORD

    Psalms 1:2 But his delight is in the law of Jehovah; And on his law doth he meditate day and night. (ASV)

    Should YHVH be translated LORD or Jehovah?

    I always understood Jehovah to be a man-made translation by combining the Tetragrammation and Adonai. You will note that JW's utilize the term Jehovah in numerous locations throughout their bible. This has been a debate for some time. They will argue that one should use His personal name when translating the tetragrammation. Others, will state no, the Jews did not intend to utilize the personal name, in fact, they would not even speak it. They would also wash themselves after they wrote it. Then, in the NT we see the word Kurios, or Lord utilized to describe God. JW's will sometimes translate this as Jehovah as well. There are some good apologetics sights that argue these translation issues.
