A favorable article about Congressman Ron Paul. :)

    The rise of Ron Paul

    Adam Daifallah, National Post

A year ago, American conservatives were dreading the onset of a new era of liberalism. Barack Obama was inaugurated as President and the media declared conservatism dead for at least the next eight years. Today, conservatives are re-energized and some even predict a Republican takeover of the House of Representatives -- and perhaps even the Senate -- in November's mid-term elections.

Excitement and hope were palpable at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the annual confab of American right-wing activists which took place last weekend. But renewed optimism wasn't the biggest story coming out of conference -- it was the surprise victory of Representative Ron Paul in the annual CPAC straw poll of presidential contenders. ...

Conservative activists may despise President Obama and his radical agenda, but they are almost as peeved with Republicans, who have shown over their time in power an inability to cut spending and reduce the size of government. Paul has become the standard-bearer of discontent with the Bush era's "big-government conservatism." One of his long-time hobby horses is shutting down the Federal Reserve and returning to the gold standard. To move that idea forward, Paul has introduced legislation that would require the Federal Reserve to be audited; the bill enjoys substantial support from Republicans and Democrats, with a staggering 313 co-sponsors. Passing such a law would have been considered total lunacy two years ago. Today, largely due to the Fed's culpability in fuelling the 2008 financial crisis, the bill could become law.

Paul also wants to disentangle the U.S. from foreign involvement, including removing all troops from foreign soil and pulling out of the UN and NATO. ...

It has become clear over the past year that despite the naysaying, America is still a centre-right country. It has a President trying to impose on it a left-wing agenda. The people are recoiling. One need only look at the recent election results in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia to understand this. Democrats are on the run, and American conservatives can hardly wait until November.

    Another Ron Paul thread.

You're like a child excited over a new toy.

Only it's an old one and your infatuation with Paul is becoming a bore.

Some folks post a lot bashing President Obama and/or Democrats and/or liberals. I post a lot about Ron Paul and the politics of liberty.

If you don't like Ron Paul, don't read the threads. Spend you time shopping for a new Toyota, they need the business.

Just so this thread doesn't get out of hand talking about me, I will be cutting back on Ron Paul threads. The plethora of them lately has to do with his winning the CPAC straw poll and the plethora of Internet articles this has created among those of us who want limited, constitutional government as well as articles on various news and opinion sites.

My problem is, after touting Ron Paul, you went and voted for the zero, the man who stands against everything Dr. Paul is for. Your loyalty is fleeting. I hope this time you stand by the man.

KenH - you old enough to remember the Goldwater fiasco? Why do you think Paul has a better chance than Goldwater?

Amen to that. As I said in another thread, I'm keeping wax in my ears to protect me from the Siren's call.

Speaking of Greek mythology, I learned tonight as my wife and I were leaving the cinema after watching "The Wolfman" that a remake of "Clash of the Titans" is coming out in about a month. Yea! :)

    Obama is the president.

Ron Paul is an insignificant libertarian Texas representative posing as a Republican. Your infatuation is misplaced and probably fleeting.

Just until the next pied piper comes along.

You can rest assured that , when I am ready for a new vehicle, nothing built by Government Motors will get even a glance.

It'll most likely be a Ford, Toyota or Honda. Likely one of the last 2, built by hard working American workers who aren't raping the taxpayer.

    1) I have been a supporter of Ron Paul for about 30 years.

    2) I wouldn't bet any money on that if I were you, my brother in Christ. :)

That must explain your support of, and vote for, the Abortionist-in-Chief.;)

I no longer support Barack Obama(haven't for a number of months) and, as I have posted several times, regret having voted for him in 2008.

If Ron Paul runs for President again, he will lose again. A vote for him may be a way to feel good about protesting the status quo, but that is about all it will be.

That said, people should vote their conscience.

The thing about Ron Paul is he's a rare politician who's not bought and paid for and that explains his popularity. In spite of my disagreements with him, I have a great deal of respect for him. He's one of the good guys.

Definitely. I too have disagreements with him, but respect where he is coming from. It is just a fact...he will never be POTUS.

But what has he actually done?

Where are the bills that he authored and convinced enough to vote for to pass and actually roll back the government's over-reach?

What good does it do to say "limited government" over and over and over if one does not actually do something about it?

    Talk about vain repetition!

Own one now. It's given me good service, but my next purchase won't be a pickup. And I say again, it won't be a GM or Chrysler product. No matter what.
