Obama's Health Care "Push," Smacks of a Subtle Form of Dictatorship

    Abraham Lincoln so eloquently said in his famous address at Gettysburg, that "Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal... that we here highly resolve that these dead [in the current war between the North and South, and any war that has involved America's fight to sustain its right to a democratic government] shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

    This ideal of a democratic government may find its fateful ending should this president continue to"bully whip" his party's Legislators into "walking-the-plank" by passing this National Health-care Referendum, through the use of "reconciliation".

    The ideals of a democratic society, and its subsequent government, mean that those who are elected "by, and for the people" and seated in the Legislative Branch of Government, as well as the Administrative branch, are expected to represent the "will" of the people of this democracy. This means that these men and women [in the Senate and Congress] have the responsibility to vote according to the will of their constituents; not according to the will of the seated POTUS, or, as Senator John McCain said last week, "his conscious".

    The most recent push to pass a bill that has already been proved to be unpopular among the majority of this "government, by, and for the people" is no longer a democracy in action for those very same people. IMHO, what Obama has proposed is nothing more than a "dictatorship" in the making.

    It should come as a surprise to any American [especially those who voted for Obama] that Obama has become so power driven. After all, he spent 20 years under the tutelage of a preacher who strongly believed in, and forcefully taught "Liberation Theology" to his congregation. Liberation Theology is a militant form of religion that expects its leaders to lead by an "iron-fisted-authority" at any cost, because that is what is needed to keep the people in line. Obama's understanding of the Gospel message was militant, and its influence has been clearly seen in how he is leading those within his own party.

    Liberation Theology expects the sacrifice of many to gain the goal of the few... and that philosophy is what I believe is driving Obama to secure a victory, at any cost, in getting this referendum passed.

    This does not mean that Obama is an evil person. The truth is, he sincerely believes that he is doing what is best for the people of this nation. After twenty-years of sitting under Liberation Theology teaching, he has taken to heart, the central theme and driving force of the Liberation Theology message. Reverend Wright can be extremely proud of his prodigy.

    When a president sees himself larger, smarter, and more all-knowing than those who trusted in him and subsequently voted him, or her, into office, than that president has stepped beyond the will of the people. And by stepping beyond the will of the people, Obama is about to "stomp" on the very people and their will, by cramming down their "throats" a National Referendum that is so unpopular that a large group of the president's own voting party officials will be removed from office at the up-coming general election.

    For any Democrat leader in the Senate and Congress, to blindly "Trust him," as Obama has called for them to do, by passing this bill through reconciliation, reminds me of those in Hitler''s regime who blindly followed and died for his quest to reign as the world's supreme leader of the Third Reich!

    No POTUS should be allowed to wield the kind of power that Obama is wielding. The system of "Checks-and-Balances" that were put in place by our founding fathers was done so to protect and assure that this nation would never fall into the hands of a dictatorship. However, America is in jeopardy of a covert attempt by Obama, to gain absolute power over the people should his party officials support his push to use "reconciliation" in order to cement his presidency, and personal legacy, in the halls of time and historical fame.

    You can disagree with me, if you want. You can even call me an "alarmist!" But, I was one of many who tried, in vain, to warn those who supported Obama during the elections. I wasn't wrong then, and I don't believe that my warning now is too far from being right-on, give-or-take a few degrees to the left or the right.

    As Lincoln so eloquently said, "that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain... " IMHO, should Obama win his Health Care Push, I sincerely believe that all of the men and women who have fought for, and died in past and present wars, will truly have died in vain! For freedom as we know it, just may die with this bill of entitlement.

    ==Our founders did not put in place a government in which the popular will would always win the day. We see this, for example, in the "Jay Treaty" and other such legislation. Just because something is popular does not mean it is right and just because something is unpopular does not mean it is bad or wrong. I dismiss the argument that health care legislation should not be passed because the majority of Americans allegedly disapprove. It should not be passed because, plain and simple, it is unconstitutional. That is true regardless of what any poll says the American people think.


    ==America is not really a democracy, it is a republic. Obama's healthcare push is not "a dictatorship in the making". Obama is doing what presidents do, they use the "bully pulpit" to get their agenda passed. Simply because you don't like the agenda does not mean it is a dictatorship. A dictatorship is "an autocratic form of government in which the government is ruled by an individual". That is not our government, under Bush or Obama. We still have a Senate, we still have a House of Representatives, and we still have governors (etc). If Obama were a dictator he simply would say that something will be law and it would be law. As it is, he is having to wrangle votes through political promises and scare tactics. Sadly he is not the first American president to use such tactics. I seem to recall a recent American president who used fear to get many Americans, and their representatives, to agree to an unAmerican, unconstitutional, and illegal act that violates the rights of Americans. That president was not Obama, he was not a democrat, he was a republican (an alleged conservative). In my view President Obama is simply continuing in the tradition of the imperial presidency.

    Back to reality, it is far too early to think that Obama will or will not be reelected. Presidents can start of strong and fail to get reelected and they can start off by falling flat on their face and still get reelected. It all depends on what is going on during the summer and fall of 2012. And that is a little more than two years away. In the world of 21st century politics and 24-hour news channels, that is a very, very long time.


    ==America is not in the hands of a dictatorship. Americans voted for Obama, he represents the American people. Americans voted for democrats in the Senate and House, they represent the American people. These left wingers did not seize control, they were elected to power.


    ==That is an obvious over statement. While I don't support Obama or his healthcare ideas, passing it via reconciliation does not constitute "absolute power". I'm not convinced they will get anything passed. Reconciliation or not.

    We do agree that the plan is bad for America. Other than that, I appreciate your input... you really took time to read it all, and you put forth some good feedback. Do I agree with your thoughts, NO! But, I still appreciate your taking time to respond.

    In using the word "subtle" I was trying to be nice :laugh: I knew there would be those who would shred my post to pieces, so I tried to use words that didn't sound too authoritative, or, all knowing [like someone else we know - Obama - but, don't tell anyone I think he is all-knowing].
