In another thread about Obama wanting to ban fishing the subject about hunting also came up.

Do you take part in hunting and fishing? Is so, why; if not why not?

Personally, I do neither. There is not ethical reason, but I just don't have the patience to sit out in the cold for hours on end. I spend enough time in the supermarket as it is

I did fish before my strokes. I used a barbless hook and released live. I quit after my strokes and I cast rod and reel into the river. I couldn't hold it and I wasn't going into the water to retrieve it.

Never hunted. I can't stand guns since the Korean War. Any loud sound gives me shivers, even to-day.

I have allowed some selective hunting on my property to prevent deer overpopulation. There is no site worse than a deer than has starved to death in winter.

My one daughter and husband hunt for one week in our back fields, but only take on deer. I don't object to others hunting for food, but do object to hunting just for the sake of hunting. One can always hunt with a camera.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I have hunted and fished, but I've never really cared for hunting.

I used to fish at every opportunity, but I just realized I haven't been fishing in literally 20 years. (Wow.)

I do enjoy shooting sports as frequently as possible, but I guess all the little animals are safe. :p

23 years for me! Of course, I quit for a different rreason -- my father-in-law Grady drowned on a solo fishing trip! Nobody was available to go with him that day, and most of us who usually went with him haven't felt like fishing since. On the other side of the picture, though -- Grady spent the next day (Easter!) with our Lord!!! Looking forward to the day we meet up again!

Once my dad sat down and calculated how much our family spent per pound of wildlife meat we got -- it was about $5 per pound, at a time when hamburger meat was only about 50 cents! I haven't hunted since high school (39 years!), because I can't afford to!:tongue3:

    I hunt and fish.

In fact, my back door is about two hundred yards from a large creek and about a mile and a half down that creek lies the Chesapeake Bay, so we fish pretty much constantly.

Then, after we clean what we catch, we use the heads and tails for crabbing.

As for hunting, as a farmer, I have a permit from the state that essentially allows me to hunt all year round.

I gauantee you that when I hunt, the animal is killed a lot more humanely than they do when they're kill in the industrial slaughter houses where your meat comes from.
