There is only one real poll that counts. I have read a lot of claims that the 'vast majority' of Americans oppose this current health care reform bill.

The only poll that really counts in the one in November. If there is that much opposition 219 members of the House will surely lose their seats, right?

What does it mean if most of them retain their seats?

This is what is great about the Constitution. IF Americans are willing to act then the longest their have to tolerate their representative is two short years.

We will know on November 3rd if Americans REALLY oppose this bill.

Did these 219 representatives knowingly seal their political fate with their vote Sunday?

we may only have to tolerate them for 2 years, but the damage they cause goes on much longer, voting for a different person does not change that.

This isn't scientific...but I'd say 1/3 to 1/2 of Democratic seats simply cannot be lost. I mean...if DC will re-elect a crackhead, I think we have our answer in many districts. They've been gerrymandered so as to be ironclad.

I do think the D's airtight majority will vanish. The R's will have a fighting chance come November. But I don't think they retake the majority.

It would be fantastic if the republicans could win enough seats to get a two thirds majority. Then they could change it while Oboma was still in office. Talk about sending a message.

Maybe this is why they've pushed the jobs bill through...they are expecting to have to start using it on a personal level...;)

Honestly though if I were an incumbent who voted for this thing, I'd be worried if there was a high-school drop out dog catcher qualified opponent in my race.

That's not true and you know it. About half of them are from "safe" districts that would not vote in a Republican if his name were Barak Obama.

Democrats should lose their majority in the House as a result of this vote. That is about the best that can be expected.

But many Americans have the attention span of gnats. So, who knows.

Yup - all that will count is the pocket book when it comes time to tick the ballot.

I am increasingly optimistic that more Americans are waking up and turning their citizenship into action and stirring up others to think and study about people and issues and become more informed. However, this is a long process to reverse what has been missing in the schools and in the political climate of this country for many decades. And I'm not certain that any one or two elections will be enough to turn the tide. Unfortuantely, there are so many obstacles and so called 'well meaning people' who add their own discouragement, apathy, or animosity to the mix..... that I'm not even sure that those who are currently 'fired up' now can maintain a sustaining flame of committment which will endure past one or two elections. We need leaders and preachers and teachers and government workers and farmers and laborers and domestics and 'minorities' to get on board and keep the flame going. We need those who are grounded in faith and have a righteous indignation over the morally corrupt leadership of our country which has led its people away from the constitution on which our nation was built, to rise up and be heard... in the church, at the schools, in the workplace, on the street corners and in the parks, in coversations around the dinner table, etc.. We need to bring back the 'servant' to public service and office, and encourage those who are humble enough to serve and give them honor which contrast with those who are too well heeled, and supported, and have too much unbridled ambition. We need to give attention to those who receive the least... and expose the secrets of those who enjoy too much.

C4K, I don't even see the Republicans reflecting enough return to our heritage to believe their majority would make more than a dime's worth of difference. The National Democratic Party has strayed beyond the lines of principals. The Republicans on the national level count it too important to be thought of as 'moderates' and are themselves so globalist.... that they mislead the people.

The answer for our country is more within the resurrection of the spirit of what it means to be an American within the people to epidemic proportions than that which may be reflected by change in its leadership...... for a while.
