I was reading an e-mail that stated that Obama was spending way too much time on the road, promoting himself, and his programs.

I don't know if I totally agree with that observation, and I thought it might make for a good question on this political forum.

    So, what do you think??

    Shalom,

Since this is only something you read and not necessarily your view I can be be totally honest :)

I think this is a terribly silly complaint. The president spends too much time AWAY from the White House?? Or and what says the president should stay at home? He is the president, he is supposed to be out working.

I disagree with most of his ideas, but how is he going to lead from the Oval Office?

If someone has way too much time on thier hands it would be interesting to see what % of time the last 7 presidents (Nixon to present) spent overseas.

Righteousnessdude2, just when I think you have reached the limit on silly threads, you start this one.

The President is never really "off the clock." I don't care where he is; his responsibilities will just end up following him.

He is always in communication. What does it matter if he's there? He's taking advantage of the power of the Presidency to push his views. I don't like his positions, but that's part of the job.

I think this was one of President G.W. Bush's greatest failings. He wasn't out selling his views. There was no use of the bully pulpit that really belongs to the President.

Seems to me that once people begin to despise someone they find reason to question everything that person does or is doing.

I don't even think this a legitimate complaint, he's president every minute of everyday, no matter where he is, he's always 'on call' even on vacations (as long as there aren't too many vacations that is), I do think he called off too many over seas visits, making it look to the other countries like we didn't value them and their friendship. But whatever.

For the most part you are correct. With Obama many hated him before he was elected, hated him even more after being elected and will hate him no matter what he does or does not do. I am sure he know this. If I were Obama I would simply discount this group and do what I thought was right. All the time I would know I was going to be criticized by this group.

an elected offical discounting what we the people want and think, hmm, sounds interesting, and liberal as it gets. if his policies were more in line with the american people so many may not 'hate' him or rather his policies.

People often think that everyone believes like the ones they are around. I live in Texas, which is a conservative state. Many people I talk to wrongly believe that the whole country feels like this, since it is the view they hear so often.

I don't think President Obama should discount all American's views, but if a group is determined to oppose you at every turn, it is foolish to attempt to cater to their wishes.

37% of americans supported the health care bille, that leaves 63%, and those are the ones being discounted, it's not a small group opposing him. I'm not going by what peope locally say, but what the nation is saying. It is never foolish for a president to attempt to act as a perseident should and listen to 63% of the american people, rather then the 37%.

I'd say for a socialist who refuses to show his real birth certificate and school records he's spending way too much time in the WH.

You Get My Vote On That One!

You hit the political nail right-square on the head, donnA. There was a total disrespect and disregard for the will of the majority of the people in regard to the HCR. And for that all those who voted in favor of the bill discounted the will of the majority of the people across the nation...

Both of these are good points.

I have plenty of complaints about Obama. I don't think this thread's OP is a valid one.

    Please Read the ENTIRE Post

There have been a few comments that seem to think I am making a mountain out of a molehill!

The truth is, I wrote this post because I don't agree that he is spending too much time outside of the WH. As opposed to W., he is at least getting out and talking to the people where they live, and this ain't all bad!

Please note my sentence from the original post, it says: "I don't know if I totally agree with that observation!"

I was wanting to get feedback from others as to their thoughts on this topic, because I am getting e-mails that criticize BHO for being on the road TOO much, I think this may be unfair.

it didn't hurt his winning that acorn registered voters, who did vote, but were already dead, or that the black panthers threatened epople to vote for him, or that he himself told his supporters to get in people's face and make them vote for him.
