    Matthew 24:24
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible.

Can elect be deceived or was Jesus being sarcastic about the Jews who were?

The words "if it were possible" (KJV) tell me that it ISN'T possible, but that they would if they could. We who know the truth and have turned from darkness to the Light (Christ Jesus), cannot be fooled by false doctrines. The ones who are fooled are those who are not born again and don't know the truth. They are still living in darkness.

    Stiff knecked

If they believe they can not be deceived into believing a lie. How can you humble them to admit they are wrong? They will continue to believe a lie. This is why God has hidden the truth from them. They can make any lie and turn it into their understanding. They are no different from the stiff knecked people of old. God loved the world that He sent His Son, not part of it but the world.

    John 3:16 (Young's Literal Translation)

16for God did so love the world, that His Son -- the only begotten -- He gave, that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during.
