Dallas Baptist Church Ousted over Gay Deacons

First place, there is no such thing as a "gay deacon." A deacon is a great honor bestowed by a local New Testement church on an individual who shows humility and spiritual maturity. The requirements for deacon are in Scripture. I know there are some of the requirements that are debatable such as married to one woman, but practicing blatant, unrepentent sin is clear cut. Someone with that life style, unless they repented of it, could not even be a member of our church, so a leadership role would be out of the question. My question is, how could anyone in that sin so proud of it they do not even try to hide it, take such a office ordained by the Lord?

My hats off to the Baptist General Convention of Texas. The only thing I disagree with is the fact someone said is was painful severing ties. I would have run to that vote to sever ties.

One thing about our faith, a local church does not have to stay affiliated with an association, state, or national convention or organization. Neither do
do the higher level organizations have to stay affiliated with a local church. It works out very well. We the congregation police our own churches.

I do not know what this world is coming to. I cannot imagine even have to take a vote like that, out of the state of Texas, well entrenched in the middle of the Bible Belt. The gay life style and abortion were going on when I was growing up in the 50s. The difference is back then, people tried to hide it. It was against the law. Over the years, both became acceptable, and now, our government gives it the official stamp as being OK.

I know to God sin is sin, but there has to be a difference between sinning and being ashamed, and rubbing the Lord's nose in it.

 

While it is possible to have sinful desires and be saved (We still have our sin nature that desires to be fed), a born again Christian is NOT going to live IN sin without being miserable and convicted by the Holy Spirit. If I even THINK about sinning, He convicts me.

 

I am thankful for our brothers taking a stand. If we only had more men who stand with the Word of God against this sinful worldliness that is infiltrating churches. Praise the Lord! It does my heart good knowing that there are still some men with backbone left.

The signs of things being "wrong" in this "church" had to be evident long before now. This should serve as a reminder to us all to be ever vigilant for these 'evidences' and nip them in the bud, as we are commanded thru Discipline (Matthew 18:15-18 and 1 Cor. 5:3-7). Or, in other words, loving our Lord enough to humbly love our brother(s), even if sternly, thru the throes of sinful temptations and desires.

We dare not turn away from this responsibility. The same 'accepting' mentality is no doubt knocking at the door of all our churches, to one extent or another.

It is the Lord Jesus Christ ekklessia - not ours. His name on it, that we are representing as His body. We dare not portray such wickedness to the world as coming from Him.

Where then, true evangelism? Where then true love? Where then the true blessings of God? If we fail to follow Him? No truly good service is being done these poor souls in that "church."

That to me showed that the decision was based on an issue of right and wrong: They gave back the money the church had given. I thought it showed some real character.

 

Good news, although repentance and correction would have been better news.
