What In The World Has Happened To America

Our world is changing at a pace that is so staggering these days that it can be really hard to fully grasp the significance of what we are witnessing. Hopefully the collection of random facts below will help you to "connect the dots" just a little bit. On one level, the facts below may not seem related. However, what they all do have in common is that they show just how much the United States has fundamentally changed.

Do you ever just sit back and wonder what in the world has happened to America? The truth is that the America that so many of us once loved so much has been shattered into a thousand pieces. The "land of the free and the home of the brave" has been transformed into a socialized Big Brother nanny state that is oozing with corruption and has accumulated the biggest mountain of debt in the history of the world.

The greatest economic machine that the world has ever seen is falling apart before our very eyes, and even when our politicians actually try to do something right (which is quite rare) the end result is still a bunch of garbage. For those who still love this land (and there are a lot of us) it is heartbreaking to watch America slowly die.

The following are 50 random facts that show just how dramatically America has changed....CLICK HERE

#25) According to the credit card repayment calculator, if you owe $6000 on a credit card with a 20 percent interest rate and only pay the minimum payment each time, it will take you 54 years to pay off that credit card. During those 54 years you will pay $26,168 in interest rate charges in addition to the $6000 in principal that you are required to pay back.

    So?

#24) According to prepared testimony by Goldman Sachs Chief Operating Officer Gary Cohn, Goldman Sachs shorted roughly $615 million of the collateralized debt obligations and residential mortgage-backed securities the firm underwrote since late 2006.

They stood their with their mouths shut and tracts in their hands?

#17) It is being reported that sales of foreclosed homes in Florida made up nearly 40 percent of all home purchases in the first part of this year.

#16) During a recent interview with Larry King, former first lady Laura Bush revealed to the world that she is actually in favor of legalized gay marriage and a woman's "right" to abortion.

#8) Three California high school students are fighting for their right to show their American patriotism - even on a Mexican holiday - after they were forced to remove their American flag T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo.

#45) For the first time in U.S. history, more than 40 million Americans are on food stamps, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects that number will go up to 43 million Americans in 2011.

#37) The federal government actually has the gall to ask for online donations that will supposedly go towards paying off the national debt.

The govt has always accepted contribution.

I didn't realize that the United States was at the center of God's eschatological plan...

anyhoo, lots of stuff on this list falls in either the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy or is just over rationalized data.

Maybe we all need to consider whether or not God holds to an Elizabethan standard societal norms or another standard...just saying, not all of this is bad stuff

Billwald, the only response you gave that I couldn't just let pass:
The students were made to take off their t-shirts because it was felt they were disrespecting the Mexican holiday. It had nothing to do with disrespecting the US flag.

It does matter. If the students were wearing the t-shirts in manner disrespectful to the flag and our country (as billwald insinuated with his response), then they should be made to take off the shirts because of their disrespect.

If someone wants to wear a flag shirt, that's their business.

We get a little touchy with our flag sometimes. Who cares if it's on clothing. I don't really understand why Christians make such a big deal out of it.

And it was about disrespecting the Mexican holiday. If they were wearing it just to be pejorative, it was childish and incendiary, but shouldn't be against the rules.

One of the most disgusting posts I've ever seen on the BB. You're fortunate your mother didn't have the same ungodly, reprehensible, evil viewpoint.

    Sickening.

Your Remark is the Heartless Epitome of True Evil

So, you think because 40 million of the estimated 50 million, would be on welfare, that this JUSTIFIES the taking of another's LIFE.

Bill - I have respected your disagreements with those on the right. In fact, some times, your remarks are right on.

BUT, THIS TIME, YOU HAVE SHOWN JUST HOW CALLOUS AND HEARTLESS YOU TRULY ARE. Anyone who justifies abortion to keep these life's off welfare is as bad, or, worse than the baby-killers in DC who approve this practice and use our tax money to commit this genocide against the unborn!!!:flower::tear:

I feel bad that you feel and believe this way.

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul :type:

Genocide can only be committed against an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group.

Webster's New World Encyclopedia, Prentice Hall General Reference, 1992, defines "genocide" as "The deliberate and systematic destruction of a national, racial, religious, political, cultural, ethnic, or other group defined by the exterminators as undesirable."

    Abortion fits this definition.

No it doesn't. But it's still wrong regardless of it it is genocide or not. We should work to create a pro-life society by changing people's minds on the morality of elective abortion.

Much to dramatic. There is a difference between justifying and making an observation. Feel free to conclude that I am wrong but in Everett they built a pregnancy whatyoucallit center right next to a new welfare office building.

    Your observation is counter-intuitive.

Wouldn't welfare recipients have a lower rate of abortion?

After all - doesn't another baby equal a bigger welfare check?

Perhaps the abortion center was built next to the welfare building because the abortion proponents want to eliminate the welfare recipients?

    You know - genocide?

As in "the deliberate and systematic destruction of a national, racial, religious, political, cultural, ethnic, or other group defined by the exterminators as undesirable."

I can't find any data on state (cash) child support per kid but I suspect marginal support per child drops as the number increases. The median family income around here is $50K and I think it would be much easier to get a job than the have kids for people of normal intelligence.

So for billwald, justification for murder of a child is simply a matter of economics and intelligence.

    FIgures.

Sad...I never thought I'd meet someone with billwald's twisted view on the BB.
