Could this contamination of the seas (oil spill) be related to Rev 16 culmanating during "The Great Tribulation". I would be very interested in some of you pastors and theologians views, comments and interpretations. I will go on record as believing that it is in light of the many metaphors in The Book of Revelation I guess this give you brethern the right to make light of me first.

Probably not. Its over realized eschatology to look far into events and tragedies for some kind of "sign."

I am neither a pastor nor a theologian. I am a brother, just like you, looking for God's truth and understanding.

It seems to me that to interpret the oil spill and a fullfillment of Rev 16:3-6 would be to make a more literal interpretation. God said in Rev 16 that the act of God in turning the waters into blood so that people were given blood to drink was righteous because those so judged had shed the blood of saints and prophets...that these who persecuted the Christians and prophets were worthy to drink blood.

It seems to me that this happening would not merely be something that looks like blood, but actual blood like what God did to the Egytians.

I have noticed that disasters do seem more frequent of late. We aren't in the trib yet. There are too many things that have to be in place for it. The revealing of the Anti Christ for one. Although it wouldn't take long for these events to happen. As I understand it the first three and one half years will be nice. All hell breaks loose when the Anti Christ breakes his seven year treaty with Israel.

If people would read Daniel chapter 9 for what it says instead of twisting it to fit their end times beliefs, a lot of this could be avoided.

    1. God knows the difference between blood and crude oil.
    2. Even John probably knew the difference between blood and oil.
    3. Here is something interesting: The oil lost in processing and moving crude oil from the ground to final product - the oil lost over all the whole earth EACH YEAR is about twice the worse-case estimate of oil lost in the BP oops.
    4. The real crises in the World is the materialistic greed that causes the United States alone to use as much crude oil & products EVERY TWELVE HOURS as involved in the BP oops.
