    .
Chelsea's marriage is off to a very, very bad start; in point of fact, it's a marriage made in Hell. Why do I say that? Because Chelsea's religion is Christianity, while that of her new husband is Judaism.

†. 2Cor 6:14-18 . . Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and the Devil? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people. Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

To make matters only worse, when a Gentile woman marries a Jew, her children will be Jews because it's the fathers who determine tribal heritage in the Bible; not mothers. So then, in order for Chelsea's children to be Christians, they will have to undergo a conversion process.

You see what happened to the wives and children of the sons of God who married unbelievers in Noah's day? They all drowned in the Flood; every one of them, including the sons of God themselves. Chelsea really screwed up and it shows you just how little she cares for the wishes of Christianity's lord.

†. John 14:15 . . If you love me, you will comply with what I command.

†. John 14:21 . .Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me.

†. John 14:23-24 . . If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching . . He who does not love me will not obey my teaching.

†. John 15:14 . .You are my friends if you do as I wish.

†. 1John 1:6 . . If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth

In order for anyone to become a Christian, they have to undergo a conversion process...doesn't matter what religion your parents are--Christian, Jew, Muslim, or whatever. No one is born a Christian.

It's not wise, in my opinion, for Christians to marry non-Christians.

But now that they are married, how about this verse?

I think I'll pray that her Christian faith be a genuine and real faith and that she will win her husband to the LORD with her actions.

It is VERY unwise for a Christian to marry a non-Christian. I know, I did it. Years ago....stupid me.
The marriage was awful, and eventually after he beat me up multiple times
and had affairs with mutliple partners, I divorced him.

I don't think that the Clintons care a thing about the Bible or anything
    else that is Christian.

Her actions? Please. She's already disregarded an important Christian doctrine by marrying outside her religion. That is not what I call a genuine and real faith. My question is: Who's going to win Chelsea to the Lord?

†. John 14:15 . . If you love me, you will comply with what I command.

†. John 14:21 . .Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me.

RE: But now that they are married, how about this verse? Quote: 1 Peter 3:1-2 "If you are a wife, you must put your husband first. Even if he opposes our message, you will win him over by what you do. No one else will have to say anything to him, because he will see how you honor God and live a pure life."

That passage pertains to women who convert to Christianity in their marriage rather than prior to their marriage. A Christian woman who disobeys 2Cor 6:14-18 has thrown the Lord over and she has got to expect repercussions. And she has also got to expect that her husband is not going to take his wife's religion serious when heretofore she hasn't even taken it seriously herself. He can't help but think that both his wife and her religion are shams.

That depends upon your criteria for identifying believers; and judging from the numerous denominations in Christendom, there exists no universal litmus test for that purpose.

Chelsea chose to identify herself as a Methodist for the wedding. In her denomination; she's a believer.

They're ambitious. For people like that, religion is handy for filling out a political résumé, but they don't let it stand in the way of either their goals or their passions.

So you're telling me that they are believers because she says she's a Methodist and that's good enough?

Have you READ the Bible recently?? I do believe that being a Methodist isn't a sign of life.

What a second...first you come in here complaining that a Christian married a non-Christian. Then, you say that the Christian isn't Christian at all.

Here's the point....who cares what Chelsea Clinton has done or married? Why does it disturb you so? Did she shun you for this Jewish guy and now you feel like you have to bash the marriage?

It's good enough in some people's minds. Like I stated previously; it depends upon your criteria for identifying believers; and judging from the numerous denominations in Christendom, there exists no universally accepted litmus test for that purpose.

RE: Have you READ the Bible recently??

That question is essentially a non sequitur since by now you're fully aware from visiting the Christianity's Commandments discussion that I’m very proficient with the Bible.

RE: I do believe that being a Methodist isn't a sign of life.

That's your belief and you're entitled to it. However, most Methodists would no doubt disagree; and write you off as a bigot too.

Webster's defines a bigot as: a person obstinately, or intolerantly, devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices.

There is if you read the Bible. It doesn't matter what one thinks being a Christian means. What matters is God's Word. I live in a community where basically if you're not Jewish, you're "Christian". Of course the vast majority don't own a Bible, have never read it and more than 50% do not ever attend church. They think that they are good enough to get to heaven because they are not as bad as the other person. Is that a true believer?

Apparently you're not really reading it then if you think that someone saying that they are a Christian means that they are a saved by the blood of the Lamb believer.

Yeah well, my husband grew up in the Methodist church. He was baptized as an infant, went through confirmation and yet it wasn't until he was 16 that he finally heard from someone OUTSIDE the Methodist church about the Gospel. Being in a Methodist church does not automatically mean you're saved.

As for the bigot comment, I don't care. "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the Father but through Me." That's Jesus talking. He also said that there is no life outside of Him. If saying so makes one a bigot, then so be it.

I'm afraid you've been misled. I'm not complaining; nor do I wish to complain.

RE: Then, you say that the Christian isn't Christian at all.

I do not recall alleging that Chelsea isn't a Christian. In point of fact, I clearly stated that Chelsea identified herself as a Methodist for the wedding. Methodism is a Christian denomination.

You probably bounced off my question of who's going to lead Chelsea to the Lord? Well, that was in regard to the quality of her obedience, not the nature of her religion. From my 42 years experience as a Christian, I know for my own self that there are numbers of Christians who need to be led to the Lord; that is, they need to take his instructions far more seriously than they normally do.

†. Luke 6:46 . .And why do you call me Lord and Master and do not what I say?

†. 1John 1:6 . . If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth

RE: who cares what Chelsea Clinton has done or married? Why does it disturb you so?

I'm afraid you've been misled again. Chelsea' marriage to a man of Judaism does not disturb me.

RE: Did she shun you for this Jewish guy and now you feel like you have to bash the marriage?

I'm going on 67 years old. I seriously doubt a man my age would have a chance with Chelsea. And besides, I'm already married; and have been since 1980. There's no way I'll divorce my wife of 30+ years to start chasing skirts.

I saw Chelsea' s high-profile marriage as an opportunity to discuss a very serious issue: Christians marrying non Christians. I've no clue as to why you've gone so ballistic over a common Baptist Sunday-school topic.

I think the big issue we're having here is this:

What is your definition of a Christian?

In my definition, which I get from the old Websters is " A real disciple of Christ; one who believes in the truth of the Christian religion, and studies to follow the example, and obey the precepts, of Christ; a believer in Christ who is characterized by real piety." That is the generally used definition by believers in Jesus Christ. I know there are those outside of the faith who consider themselves "Christians" because they are not Jewish or they go to a particular church or their grandmother was one so they are too (yes, heard that one) but that is not the Biblical definition.

So what definition are you using for "Christian"?

Chelsey is not a saved believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as far as I know. So there is no issue. She is unsaved. He is unsaved. They are equally yoked.

Judaism's rabbis stopped listening to God long, long ago.

†. Deut 9:23-24 . .And when Yhvh sent you out from Kadesh Barnea, He said; Go up and take possession of the land I have given you. But you rebelled against the command of Yhvh your God. You did not trust Him or obey Him. You have been rebellious against Yhvh ever since I have known you.

†. Jer 3:25 . .we have sinned against Yhvh our God, we and our ancestors; since our youth even to this day. And we have not obeyed the voice of Yhvh our God.

†. Dan 9:8-14 . .Open shame belongs to us, O Lord: to our kings, our princes, and our ancestors, because we have sinned against You . . we have rebelled against Him; nor have we obeyed the voice Yhvh our God, to walk in His Law which He set before us through His servants the prophets. Indeed all Israel has transgressed Your law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the curse has been poured out on us, along with the oath which is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, for we have sinned against Him.

†. Zech 7:11-12 . .They refused to pay attention; stubbornly they pulled away the shoulder and stopped up their ears. They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to The Law or to the words that Yhvh Almighty had sent by His spirit through the earlier prophets.

†. Mark 7:9 . .And he said unto them: Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

If you'd like to see how the Bible's Christ feels about his countrymen's rabbis; just feast your glims on Mtt 23:1-39. (cf. John 3:10)

Is there another Christ? You don't need to qualify Jesus Christ here. We know Who He is.

So Ann, would you also consider George W. Bush & family not Christians since they profess being Methodists?

You might want to take another look at that Bill. Ive been told by some very observant Jews its the mother that determines if they will be Jews.
