....of us feel the working of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives?

    If not, why not?

If so, how do we recognize the difference between the workings of the Holy Spirit and that of our own conscience?

And how do we show others how to recognize the working of the HS in their own lives?

I believe that the working of the Holy Spirit is not so much something we "feel" as it is something we "know" through evidence. Our ability to know things is not so great, but our feelings are that much more unreliable. But the Bible says, "to know the love of God", not "feel the love of God", and , "that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection", not "that I may feel him..."; again, "by this we know that we are the children of God, when we keep his commandments..." and so many more that speak to knowledge rather than feelings. If you did not intend the word "feel" in the way I have represented it, I do apologize.

    I'm fine with that, JD.

So, how do we "know" the Holy Spirit and what sorts of evidence do we look for in our own lives and how do we share the "knowing" with others?

I know the Holy Spiirt works in my life everyday. Leading me in the ways of righteousness, convicting me when I fail to follow, making intercession for me when I pray, and comforting me when I need it.

How do I know it is the Holy Spirit? The same way i know my mother's voice when she calls. I often tell the story that when I was a child and playing out in the neighborhood as children did before video games, a mother would call out the door when she wanted her children to come home. If it was another mother I kept playing, if it was mine, I came home. I didn't have to ask or have someone else tell me it was my mother, I knew. Jesus said, "My sheep will know my voice". If I spend time with God and God's word, walk in the Spirit, and get to know him, I will know when he speaks. Sometimes I may pretend I don't. Sometimes I may have fears and doubts about what he tells me. But deep inside I know.

I know the Holy Spirit's work in my life when I am led to the Scriptures and by the Word of God am being conformed into the image of Christ Jesus, loving what He loves and hating what He hates.

How many of you married people "feel" you are married? Whether you feel it or not you are still married. Feeling is like a heartache it comes and goes but the HS comes once and stays and guides us in our daily lives.
