I am witnessing to someone who was raised RC, attends a Lutheran church, and has had long exposure to the SBC through family members.

Our little town has two Baptist churches--one very Rick Warren, one fundamentist but focused more on right wing politics than on preaching the gospel. Excellent Baptist churches in one direction, but 160 mile round trip each Sunday to reach them. Excellent Baptist church another way, but 60 mile round trip to attend. Both ways roads are often closed or dangerous much of the year.

This person listens to Baptist preachers on tv, and has lately pointed out repeatedly that when he attends either of the local Baptist churches he hear that the message hasn't changed but the methods have.

Then he tells me, "Oh yeah? Sounds to me like the message has changed."

Goes on to point out that if you listen to Adrian Rogers or early Billy Graham, or if you can find it something done by W A Criswell or even early Falwell you get a strong dose of sin/hell/salvation in Jesus. If you listen to Stanley (either one) or go to the local churches you get a psych lesson in how to have a happy life.

I'm stumped, and can't argue with his reasoning.

In changing the methods, HAVE we changed the message? Or is it more a local problem? Or are he and I missing something?

I will add one of the local churches will sing no songs having the words sin, or sinner, in them as they are "off putting."

In man's attempt to change the methods, he has also changed the message. So yes, the message and the method has changed. There is no argument against what your friend is telling you because he/she is correct.

There are some who have changed the message without changing methods such as the churhc you mentioned thta is more about right wing politics.

There are some who have changed the methods without changing the message. I believe I am one.

There are some who have changed both the message and the method.

God doesnt change. men screw up everything. the Word is perfect, God is perfect.. Get your friend in the Word. The Word has the power to save. and will likely do so far quicker and easier than any church or pastor....

when 'church' is the focus its always wrong. the battle of the churches is a waste of time. the focus should be Christ and the Word of God and Truth... not church.

the lutheran church is a synagogue of satan just is the RCC but trying to explain that is hopeless. a RC or Luth has to get in the Bible and see for themselves that they are not saved and have to get right with God based on the Word of God and not 'church'...

there are hundreds of sermons on sermonaudio.com that explain the errors of RCC and Luth and can show your friend the evils in those systems and how different they are from the True Body of Christ... you dont have to drive anywhere... Christ's Church is spiritual and not found at a building made with hands...

i have a list of sermons from awesome pastors who explain the errors of false religion... if you want to know who they are... let me know.

So you don't believe that believers should be involved in a church and instead should listen to Sermon Audio?? Really???

    wow, you are relentless.

most churches are synagogues of satan. if you are unsaved and you go to ANY church, you are still on your way to hell..

'going to church' is an act of obedience to Christ once a person is saved. but it must be a church that is true to Christ... not RCC, Luth, Meth, JWs, Morm, etc...

i know you dont believe this... but 'going to church' does not save anyone. the Word of God saves. Jesus saves. not going to church.

this thread was about witnessing to a lost RC going to another false church (Luth). true churches were far away. its a whole lot easier to get online and listen to true preachers like David Cloud who teach the truth and expose the evils of satan, the world and false bibles... my advice was for this person to share the Word (KJV) with his lost friend even if that meant doing it online thru true pastors like Cloud... instead of trying to drive 160 miles to a descent church.

you apparently have not heard much truth either... here ya go. consider it a gift from me to you....

WHAT???? "Most churches are the synagogue of Satan"

Are you serious?? That is a very low view of the Bride of Christ..

I would agree that there are SOME.. but MOST? That doesn't say much for the power of God.

Then you promote the heretic David Cloud that lies about Bible Versions?

Sir, you need to rethink your theology.

Just asking a logical question since you actually list your church on your profile as Sermon Audio (sorry - I originally wrote Sermon Spice because I was just there today!). So how's that working for you? Are you able to use your gifts for the edification of the body well there?
ETA - I see that you changed your church name to "BodyOfChrist". Does that church have a website?

What if you are saved and yet still attend one of these churches? Like maybe the Methodist church that is solidly Biblical down south?? I know of a number of them down there. You'd compare a congregation that consists of brothers and sisters of Christ to the Mormons - and to say that they are a synagogue of Satan? Man, I'm not going to be standing next to YOU at the Judgment Seat.

How do you know what I believe? You know me? You've spoken to me? Well, just to let you know - your "knowledge" is false. A lie maybe? I agree that going to church doesn't save you. Never said it did. I asked you if you believed that believers should not attend church.

If one were to stay at home and listen to someone like David Cloud, I pity them. While he might be right on some things, the basis of his ministry is wrong because he has false beliefs on the Word of God. I could name any number of much better and much more solid teachers.

As for your gift - no thank you. I have no desire to listen to him. I have much better things to do with my time.

    you people are funny.

unlike you, 'tiny', i actually believe my KJ Word of God Bible... when God says:

    Matthew 7:14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

    Luke 13:23-24
23 said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

    Revelation 12:17
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

tiny, the 'remnant' means 'a small number'...

yall keep on attacking... i can feel the blessing pouring out... (Matt 5:11)

Oh and butt out? Last I knew, you didn't own this site. Don't like me? Put me on ignore. That's about all you can do. But I will answer false teaching and lies each time I see them.

When people come here espousing opinions from false teachers like Cloud, you are going to get blasted... can't get more simple than that...

Get better theologically sound heros, and you won't be blasted....

The problem is you can't back up your beliefs by the Bible, and you get mad as all the others that have come before you.. .you have been indoctrinated instead of educated, and when you simply believe something without scripture to back it up, you, like all others that have been indoctrinated fight back by telling people to "butt out"..

You see, down deep, you know you don't have a scripture to stand on.. neither does Cloud.. NO where does the Bible say to use ONE version.. .you are taking a doctrinal stand on something that the Bible is silent on.

Being rude to Ann is not polite, nor is it a great way to show your maturity.

KJVOism is a modern day heresy that is being espoused in many pulpits of satan's synagogues..

It is a teaching that has NO biblical foundation.
But it does attract people like you that can't think for yourself, but have to rely on heretics like Cloud to think for you.

I'm sorry - I corrected myself. I meant Sermon Audio. I was at Sermon Spice earlier today so that must have been in my head when I typed. I'm sorry.
