I have some friends in Chapel Hill looking for a good church. I was hoping you all have some connections there.

This young couple was in my youth group a few yrs ago, she is starting her Graduate studies, and have not found a church they like.

They went to one church, and NOONE even acknowledge they were there...

I am worried that if they don't find something soon, this twentysomething couple may get discouraged.

Tim, when I was 20-something the only churches I returned to were the ones where people didn't go out of their way to acknowledge my presence. I was looking for a place to come and worship, not a group to identify with. To a certain extent I'm still that way. When I'm out of town, I'm much more comfortable visiting a church where I can come and go unnoticed. But maybe that's just me.

In someways, I am the same, but not this couple. Their main complaint was the fact that they were ignored completely.

Maybe there aren't any good churches in Chapel Hill. This post has been up 24 hours and not a single recommendation.

    Off subject.

I talk to folks everyday like you two are saying and I'm not finding fault with you two or them, I just don't understand. I don't understand, but there is much I don't understand in church today. I don't understand the music in a lot of churches, the preaching in a lot of churches and the lack of carrying the gospel out into the neighbor hood or trying to meet the need s of some of our brothers and sisters who need a little help. But such is life.

I love being around Christians, I love helping them if need be, I enjoy their fellowship. Christians that I've known for years or for the first time today, I just enjoy them. I've never been in hurry to get home after church service, some times hang around in the parking lot have great fellowship for hours. Today our church talks about love but don't get in their way after church or you might get run over as most are heading to a local restaurant.
At one time we had 3/4 of the men there for visitation, now we have 10 or 15 and we want to talk about how many folks in town are going to church, have we ask them.

I do agree that most churches are cold, I guess over the last 40 years or so I've been in a church other than the one I'm a member of 3 or 4 times a month, counting Wed. nights and most are very cold and most are in a hurry to leave and go home or to what ever. But keep in mind I come out of the time after Sunday morning service, from early spring till late fall we had all day on the grounds most Sundays, or we might put up a poll barn for someone or put a roof on a members house or some us kind of help.

Let me explain Bob... AS a Pastor, I completely agree with you.. .I LOVE all those things you just mentioned.. especially the sweet fellowship...

But when I am on vacation, or out of town, there are times I just want to slip into a service, and be ministered to. I love slipping into a service just to observe how others do it!.. LOL..

Grant it, these times are rare, and I can count on my hands in the last 10 yrs, when I have felt this way.. .but there are times, I would love to just be there, just to worship.

Maybe I'm strange... (OK... I AM Strange)...

Summit Church is in Durham, but I've heard they are a good one. They have a few campuses that are about 25-30 minutes from Carolina. I would try there first.
