Lately, it seems we have to walk on pins and needles so we don't offend folks.

    So what offends you?

The first thing that offends me is when folks do not know the meaning of a word of which they are accusing me.

So here is the definition of offend

Otherwise, call me what you want, just don't call me late for supper! :applause:

The other day, a fellow was cussing a bit in office. He then looked at me and said, "Excuse me for my language". I said, "No, I do not excuse you" Did he offend me, not directly, he did offend the Lord, which in turn offends me. Why did I not excuse him, because he was not truly repentant and would do so without hesitation in the future.

PS, Thanks Paul for the ideal of this thread

Waxy chocolate offends me. Badly. LOL!

I would like to say that it takes a lot to offend me, but that's not exactly true. I mean, call me Fat and I will probably take offense. Tell me my German Chocolate Cake tastes like lemon Pledge and I might get offended.

I think that we should try not to say things that we know will offend someone (except in cases of scriptural issues, but even then I think there are right and wrong ways to go about it), but I also think that a lot of people probably have their feelings sticking out too far.

I read something a few years ago in which the author described the "tyranny of the offended."

We're seeing more and more of that.

What offends me? When people try to shove either Calvinism or "personal standards" down my throat. I'll love folks for who they are, but I expect the same in return.

Things are changing to match the culture. Just look at how many Baptist churches have women and children's program but not men's programs. The they wonder why there are not any leaders who are men. When they have that kind of focus there will not be any men to lead just women and children.

What is even worse when they ask for your help and then you help them then once you do they come against you. Too many parents are embarrassed when their child gets into trouble instead of welcoming correction.

If you look deeper that is usually a cover up in an effort to mask something else.

I remember when I was in Youth ministry about the mother who talked with me about her son (whom she refused to discipline) when he got into trouble. She said, "we bring him to you for you to straighten him out." I told her, "I can't change how you've raised him by spending 45 minutes a week with him."

I was not her favorite person!

To take it a step farther, in 7 hours a day we can make small changes, but most accomplishments are undone when the children go home each day. Exhausting endeavor.

I choose to not be offended by anything. It is a complete and utter waste of time and energy. Frankly, what I've noticed in life is people who are offended actually enjoy the feeling of being offended; it makes them feel superior to the one doing the offending.

The guy in the office who was cussing, I would simply ignore him. Whatever. If he wants to cuss, he can cuss. It does not impact my relationship with the Lord one iota. Hopefully, one day, he will notice that you don't cuss in your normal vernacular and desire that kind of oratory purity in his own life. Until then, I think it damaging for you to get on his case for cursing.

People who think the Rapture is going to occur soon just because a Democrat is President :BangHead: I heard that point of view during the Clinton years, and I'm hearing it more in the current administration.
