Just saw this on a church's website from an area in WV where I grew up.

How many things wrong can you find in that...

The one that I noticed was the blatant LIE!.. KJV AV1611.. does not only contain 66 books...

I know the people, and they DON'T use a 1611.. most use the 1769 KJV...

Why do churches insist on lying on their statements of faith?

NO wonder people don't believe Christians!

FWIW, they didn't claim that the 1611 contained only 66 books.

This is true - they said the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments.

But, I would love to ask one of them to read 1 John 5v12 for me :)

I live about 50 miles from Pinch, and it is NOT the backwards, hick area that the name "Pinch" suggests. Mosta its working residents are employed by the nearby chemical manufacturers, and the median income is around $50 K. So we see the KJVO myth has invaded wealthy suburbs as well as not-so-affluent areas.

Personally, I won't set foot in a church that advertises such. Being KJVO & flaunting it shows me they have at least one false doctrine embedded.

I have never seen the KJVO "invade" an educated, wealthy suburb. I, however, have seen it be there before the education and wealth got there.

Very problematic because they specified the 1611 edition.

Which, whether they admit it or not, DOES contain the Apocrypha by edict of the King of England.

Then, to be technically correct they would have to require the Gothic Font as this was the AD1611 typeset.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Not to mention all the extras like the daily Scripture reading calendar (including Apocryphal books), various celebrations of saints days, the time of the rising and setting of the sun for every day of the year, a 39 year almanac (First day of Lent, Easter, etc), marginal notes, etc.

My preference is the AD1769 Edition.

I don't believe in KJVO myself, however pointing out one's position on a topic or asking a question about it is one thing, searching for and posting a link to an individual church's site for what comes across as mocking them is another thing completely.

My intention was not to mock them.. but to point out that through people's zealousness they are blinded to truth.

This is not the only church I see that advertises "KJV 1611 AD Used here" but never use the 1611... That is a lie at worst.. misinformation at best.

IF someone's church is KJVO.. that's their choice... and that's OK.. but don't lie.
If someone here is in a KJVO church that says they use the 1611... and they actually use a 1769.. or another yr... PLEASE inform your church that they could be viewed as lying.

I view it more as they are in error rather than lying. I don't know their heart or knowledge of the subject.

Why link to their site, how does doing that better make your point? I know nothing about the people of this church, for all I know they could be very loving brothers and sisters doing nothing but minding their own business and doing their best to spread the gospel and live Godly lives.

Because of the link they now have been personally accused of lying, and I have seen questions about their education and incomes raise on the thread.

My criticism is not your point in the OP, but the linking of their site and personalizing it resulting in them being mocked. They didn't ask to partake in the board or the discussion.

Wow, that comes across very snobbish. You think wealthy people who are educated are more intelligent than average people?

Ask Bernie Madoff if rich educated people are smart. He bilked hundreds of them out of billions of dollars. And the reason he could do that is that he knows that people who believe themselves intelligent because they have money or went to some fancy college are some of the easiest people to fool.

How 'bout all those super wealthy folks that went to Ivy League schools that lost many billions in the financial meltdown last year? Yeah boy, those fellas are so smart.

It would be a test of whether or not the use the 1611KJT, Check it on in a 1611 edition and a more modern one?

They accuse Jesus of lying in MV's in such a petty way. So, why not hold them to the same standards that they use? The 1611 would be unreadable to the vast majority of even educated people in today's society. They are not using the 1611. They say they are but they aren't so according to their petty standards they are lying.

Steven, your point is well taken, and as such, I am asking a moderator to close this thread. I was in error.. and I repent.
