I was listening to two different talk shows today and they both brought up the issue of Obama.

In a recorded bit, Bush said that Obama has enough critics and he (Bush) will not be one of them.

Rush interviewed the President today. Rush mentioned how Obama is constantly blaming Bush for the economy, war, ect. Rush went on to ask he (Bush) ever blamed Clinton for the problems he inherited. Bush simply said each President has his own way of dealing with the office. :saint:

We watched Matt Lauer interviewing President Bush last night. It was an hour long show and he talked about never saying anything negative about President Obama. I think President Bush really DOES have class. I enjoyed listening to him yesterday. He admitted some mistakes but also said that with the information he had back then, he'd make the same decisions he made in the past. It was a great interview.

A man's confidence and character are often shown by how he decides not to talk in moments of opportunity.

President Bush seems to practice the belief that nothing good comes from being negative. I have been profoundly thankful for his example of not remarking about the current administration. As a man who has been tagged by the Presidents who immediately preceded and followed him, his example has been instructive for me. I am thankful for him.

Where was that class during his presidential campaign in 2000 when he constantly dogged Gore? :D

Former President is a unique position and calls for a different standard of behavior in terms of speaking about the current President.

    Bush understands and respects that.

Clinton and Carter do not - where it comes/came to speaking about Bush.

the thing I always remember about Bush, was that during the toughest times he said he thought history would see him in a more positive light. I don't think
he could have thought in his wildest dreams it would be this soon. But I definately think is he being seen in a much more positve light now, than when he was in office. Some of that is due to the absolute horrendous job our current leadership is doing. I think he is a genuinely "good guy."

It is presidential custom that the current president is never criticized by past presidents.

I wasn't all that pleased with many aspects of the GW Bush presidency--the rampant spending, the increase in size and scope of government, the Senior drug plan boondoggle, TARP, and more.

But I've been very impressed with how he has handled his post-presidential days--the candor in which he admits his mistakes, the self-restraint in not criticizing what is frankly a wide-open, easy target (his successor), and the fact that he hasn't felt the need to stay in the spotlight all the time.

I tell you one thing, though: If Kanye West walked in a room with Bush, I think ol' George would punch his lights out. :D He didn't mind much of the criticism--but you can tell West's stupid comments hurt Bush.

Which, by and large, was followed by ex-presidents of both parties...

...until Carter ran his mouth (and quite honestly, as bad a President as he was, probably should've kept his mouth shut).

...Clinton also made occasional gaffes in this area.

...I vaguely remember Bush 41 criticizing Clinton on one occasion (and if I remember correctly, he later apologized).

...I figure that starting in 2013, Obama will be a frequent critic of his successor. I doubt he has a grasp of this custom.

When the day comes for you to collect - and there is no money - you will wish he had succeeded.

There is a valid arguement even still that it was the right thing to do.

The execution could have been better though.

Obama isn't going to do anything different.

Agreed - but Obama is flushing the toilet with both hands where it comes to our money.

You must have lived in some alternative universe for a while to think this.

That was the Dems all the way.

    Myth

    Agreed.

Also see Obama above and his two handed flush.

Last I checked he wasn't in office in '99 when this happened. See Bill Clinton...

...according to the liberal media which gave the "O" a free pass with the gulf oil spill.
