What are your activities on Black Friday?

For the purpose of this poll, assume you do not work, if you are actualy required to do so?

Sorry, but what is "Black Friday"? I had to answer "other" because I don't know. Perhaps it's an American thing.

David, Black Friday is American. It is the first Friday after their Thanksgiving in November....A huge shopping day!

    Cheers,

    Jim

Jim is right - its an American (USA) thing

Check this link - a bit lengthy, but gives the entire story.

Black Friday has gotten a bit out of hand in recent years - as some deaths have actually been reported.

And now many Canadians on the border have been increasingly crossing the border to take advantage of the sales. So now some merchants North of the border are beginning to have their own Black Friday sales to keep Can dollars at home.

And when they accept all your money, all the clerk says is "Happy Holidays"

Thanks, Jim and Salty! That's one more thing to add to my meagre knowledge of the U.S.

I chose "Other" because there was no option for it being a normally scheduled work day--which for me it will be.

(And, no, I don't work in a retail store either!):tongue3:

Post 1 instructions were "For the purpose of this poll, assume you do not work, if you are actualy required to do so? "

So now what would your answer be?

Other: I don't go near a store that day because of the materialistic frenzy that overtakes the masses. I also do not celebrate the christ-mass. You can keep your leftovers from popey-le-pu and other pagan sources.

You mean we're actually supposed to READ the instructions for a poll??? When did THAT start??? :tongue3:

OK....OK.... I guess since I don't do Christmas anyway it'd be the 2d to last option.

I plan to be safely tucked in my bed, sleeping in until the crack of noon--or whenever the dog decides she MUST go potty and can't hold it another minute. Once I do wake up, I'll utter some brief prayers for all the lunatic members of my family who brave the raging crowds and risk life and limb to buy Christmas presents. My gifts are already purchased, wrapped, and hidden from curious eyes long before Black Friday.

I do most of my shopping online because I HATE crowds. I usually put up my pagan Christmas decorations on that day.

we only have Wally World in this town, so I am there at opening, but not before, because I won't sit there and freeze to death for any reason.

I pick out what is for me, the most important sale item, and I head straight to that item.

I have to take back what I said about not going shopping on Black Friday. I went to Lowe's and Home Depot to help my daughter buy a tool cabinet. She has more tools than I do... and now they are better organized! I love that girl!
