Did Jesus serve sinners when he walked the earth? Did he heal the sick, give sight to the blind, cause the lame to walk, and raise the dead? After he did this he would say go and sin no more. So they must have been sinners before he performed these miricales. And the way I understand scripture he washed Judas feet.

Why? To teach them a lesson. What is the lesson are to learn from Jesus in this regard? Does the lesson have anything to do with being a servant to all?

As far as we know, Jesus washed Judas' feet. So, knowing that, we can see that Jesus did wash the feet of the unrepentant sinner.

With that said, I think this "art" is stupid. It is meant to be inflammatory. The artist depicted this particular scene just to get a rise out of people.

Agree, and I believe it goes beyond stupid, it's blasphemous.

The article emphasizes (twice) this passage:

"Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt..." (Lk 6:27-29)

We're told to love OUR enemies. Never are we told to love God's enemies:

19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: Depart from me therefore, ye bloodthirsty men.
20 For they speak against thee wickedly, And thine enemies take thy name in vain.
21 Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? And am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: They are become mine enemies.
    23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts;
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. Ps 139

6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest haply they trample them under their feet, and turn and rend you. Mt 7

Are we told to hate God's enemies?

    Who are God's enemies?

How do you determine who the enemies of God are?

Isn't everyone, as we are all sinners, enemies of God in one way or another?

    Just curious about the above.

Give your take of the passages I referenced. Who do you say the enemies, the dogs, the swine are? We've been warned about them, so evidently they're real, they exist.

Who are the enemies of God? You and I are the enemies of God before grace steps in. We are no better or worse than Osama bin Laden according to God's perfect standards.

It is a pretty common tactic to use something absurd or extreme to prove a point. Instead of being meant to simply get a rise out of people, it's meant to prove a point. Jesus, as the Son of Man, came to serve and give his life for many. This picture illustrates this perfectly, I think.

The Psalm quotation is taken out of context here to prove a point it cannot make - that we are supposed to hate God's enemies, as if we knew who those were to begin with.

This is a travesty. The Church in many places have a Jesus that the bible does not speak of. The picture and suggestion that the Lord washes the feet of the lost is incorrect. While He may have washed the feet of Judas it is only because he was one of the twelve and present. There is never an account of Him washing the feet of the lost except this one man and this is an exception, not the rule.

The swine are real, that's for sure, but I don't see how that applies to the picture. It doesn't mean we are not to love and serve others as Christ would.

Its highly doubtful that the scenero found in the Upper Room---was ever intended to be repeated in the Oval Office or anywhere remotely near United Nations headquarters

The service Jesus came to do and the service He ordained those 12 men to do in that Upper Room that nite had everything to do with what was intended in HIS kingdom and had nothing to do with kingdoms of the earth---I doubt very seriously that He would repeat that performance in todays society----but have every reason in the world to believe He WOULD repeat it---within the confines of His glorious church!!!

We must also remember that the same Jesus who washes feet is also the same Jesus who has 12 Legions of Angels at His disposal ready, willing and perfectly able to squash any earthly kingdom---including the earthly kingdom we know as the US, the UK and whatever other smart eilieky kingdom brave enough to even attempt to stand in His presence----let us all be ever thankful that Jesus is still willing to "stay the hand" of those said angels!!

The lesson Jesus was giving to his disciples is one we should apply in our own lives.

That is sort of broad. What exactly do you see the message is?

Obama isn't in the picture. Look again.

You should be able to answer your own question. What lesson was Jesus attempting to teach his disciples?

To be fair, Jesus often healed people on the Sabbath to provoke the religious establishment so He could teach the truth about God's intent for Sabbath.

Good point. This is meant to convey a message, not just to rile up a bunch of good old boys who believe Jesus died for everyone who isn't a US enemy.

Christ came to serve and give his life. Him washing the feet of these is an effort to portray the love and compassion shown at the cross.

No it is not a good point. The cross was enough to show His love and humility. Twisting the message of the foot washing in this case was out of line.
