Government money should not go to religious institutions.

Government funds should not go to any religious organization, Christian, Moslem, Hindu, etc., etc.

But to answer your question, it does not matter how you or I feel. If it is legal there is nothing we can do about it except try to get the law passed ... and that would be too late to stop this funding .... again if it is legal.

I heard an aman say that we as Christians need to do as Jesus says and turn the other cheek. That we also need to submit to them according to the teachings of Jesus.

What do you all think about this?

We have to submit to Satan? I'd love to see where Jesus says that.

I agree with Paul3144 and Crabtownboy's statements in this thread. We don't need government and any religion being entangled in this country. This is not Iran.

I look forward to a lecture from our president (  ) on why it is such a wonderful idea.

And if we're REALLY lucky, Eric Holder will lecture us about it, too.

And if we hit the jackpot, even Janet Napolitano--even he will lecture us about it.

If I - a Baptist pastor - were to request government funds - to build a Baptist Church building - somewhere - anywhere -

The ACLU would be one of my first and biggest adversaries.

I wonder what the ACLU will say about the Muslim Mosque?

If it is legal then every Baptist pastor in America should apply for the same grant--as large as possible. Build a larger bigger church, for Baptist culture's sake. Dig deep into your heritage, the Baptist heritage of America. Catholics have their cathedrals. Muslims, their mosques, why not Baptists their churches all funded by the government? If enough of you do it then maybe they would back down?

Does your dislike of Catholics have no bounds?

Have Catholics asked for a grant to build a cathedral?

Are Catholic churches funded by the government?

I don't know, have they? Maybe they should apply for the grant too.

I say yes, but we should require the imam to be fair about it and respect all the major religions as a prerequisite to the funds (as government funds are want to have a few strings attached).

OK for a cresent above the door, but a life size crucifix should greet the devout as they enter said door followed by a larger than life buddha followed by a beautiful Torah then perhaps followed by a few images of brahma, shiva and krishna with each religion having designated areas of prayer and worship to give evidence of the tolerant reality of Islam (the religion of peace).

The inference is yours and your apparent bias and prejudice against me.
I don't have an ounce of dislike or hatred against the Catholics. Most of my extended family are Catholics and I love them very much and pray for them regularly. I don't hate Catholics as you falsely accuse me, and infer with every little dig. Even in these posts I never brought any such thing up. You brought this subject up and very unjustly so. Stop making false accusations.

If you want a clarification on posts made outside of this forum--I count the RCC theology as heretical and I despise it, for it sends people straight to hell. I never said I hate the people of the RCC, only their doctrine. I hope you have it straight now.

The Hindus have their Temples; the Sikhs have their Gurdwaras; the Jews have their Synagogues, the Catholics their Cathedrals, why not Baptists their churches?
And if each one wants to apply for the same grant as these Muslims so let them!

Do you get the point yet? Or are you going to harp on my stance on every other religion I just mentioned?

    Never mind DHK.

I'm sorry that I bothered to bring it up.

Resist the Devil and he will flee from you...

Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world...

And, nothing was said about letting the strong man come in.

In fact we are told to keep watch so that the strong man can't come in and plunder.

So, I think you need to look at the circumstances under which you are getting slapped in the face.

And, what to do after you've turned the cheeck and the other one gets slapped, too?

What's the old saying, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me....

The problem here is not with the Muslims. It is with the church. We are to be the salt of the earth, but we have lost our taste and now we are seeing the results. And keep in mind it cannot be made salty again and is good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled on. We were warned and we rejected and now we will reap. While I in no way want tax dollars to go to help build this mosque I don't want tax dollars going to build any private, religious, or secular venture, but they have the same rights as us all.
