    Boy, am I in trouble!

    I'm now reduced to "ratz-a-fratz,"

I knew a fella once whose only interjection was 'hammmmmmmmBURger.

While there is no doubt that the claimed church today is not following in the path of the Lord and the speech of men is one area that needs great attention I also think the article does what the Lord condemned the Jewish leaders for.
For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay [them] on men's shoulders; but they [themselves] will not move them with one of their fingers.
In my opinion the writer goes too far.

If it is your conviction, then that's great. Don't let me hear a heck or darn. But it's quite a stretch to apply that to others.

I personally don't think this issue is very important compared to many others, anyway.

I think the title would have been better if the author used A (or The) Cursing Christian instead of Christian Cursing.

Is there a Christian way of cursing ? (maybe there is, eh ?).

AWWWWW.. YOU SAID, "Boy"... without any real reason to use it!.. and Jesus was a boy.. .you cursed...

UH OH... you took God's name in vain also by using the contraction "I'M".. short for "I AM"... and we all know that that is God's name...

And OH NO!!!!... you said you, "KNEW" a fella!! I'm not even touching that one!

I cursed like a sailer when I was lost.

After being born again ALL curse words disapeared instantly from my vocabulary. I coudnt say them. I didnt "struggle" with not cursing, the words simply vanished from my vocabularly.

I do gladly say "gosh" and "goodness" and "darn it" alot, because by saying that it makes very clear to lost people what I am *choosing* not to say. Its actually a subtle form of witnessing.

Folks who say that we shoudnt say "gosh" or "goodness" or "darn" because they are "euphemisms" for God are being absurdly ridiculous in my opinion.

I shouldn't like to associate with that paper and call myself Canadian. I am strongly Canadian, but not that brand for sure certain.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Gee Whiz... If I am honest I will say I am responsible for my words. Am I guiltless? NO..

some of those are quite a stretch. If I say "oh my goodness" or "good grief" (I do) and shouldn't because good is a derivative of God, then when is it ever acceptable to use the word good? And yet, the author of that page did make such a distinction.

For the most part, I'll betcha that a lot of people who use the "sugar-coated" expressions don't even think about them as euphemisms for God or Jesus.

They just think of them as exactly what they are. Expressions. If you told somebody that Gee Whiz was another name for Jesus, they'd likely be surprised.

While we're at it, what does "Land-a-Goshen" sugar-coat?

Just do what Yosemite Sam does on the old Bugs Bunny cartoons.

    I think he's clean...but at least he's funny.

If you have an anger problem and start talking like him, it won't be long before you're laughing at yourself.

Then folks don't think you have an anger issue--they just think you're crazy. :D

Tell you what. Since none of us will any longer use all those veiled epithets, let's come up with some that can't be mistaken for anything.

I mentioned Land o' Goshen in another post.
    What about "My lands"?
How about Jumpin' Jehosophat? Would that work?
    Or Jumpin' Jupiter?
Does Great Scott! soften a cuss word?

What about Crymeny? Or Crymenently? Those are safe aren't they?

I heard a guy use "Well, I'll be John Brown." Any problem here?
    Or "I'll be a monkey's uncle..."?
Or, just plain "Well, I'll be..."?

My Anglophile wife suggests Blimey, and Crikey, which is sort of like Wow, or displeasure at a happening.

Here's an old one: Aw Pshaw! How about Aw Shucks?

    Anybody have some others?

    If you do, well Gloriosky!

I can understand his point on much of it. I might not agree with every point, but I at least know where he's coming from.

But he's stretching it a bunch to make a big deal out of "holy cow."

Holy mackerel, what am I supposed to say now? Holy smoke!

Looks like someone is trying really hard to find something to feel guilty about.
