Tulsa OKla. has decided rather than OFFEND people that it would rename the annual Christmas parade the Holiday parade. Another example of this generation of americans who don't have a clue what freedom costs! I don't care who it offends! It's Christmas!! You don't like it? Leave this country and go back to your third world pit! Leave MY country and the freedoms I gave 10 years of my life to protect alone!! It is time to show a little indignation. This is the land of the free and the home of the brave. We must STEP UP and take our country back!!:BangHead:

Thank you for your service to this country, Soulman.

Last year, I got irritated at all the "holiday" garbage taking the place of "Christmas." Another poster here kindly gave me some food for thought that helped. Christmas is when we celebrate Christ's birth. Do we really want that "commercialized?" The parades, crazy spending sprees, and other activities really don't reflect worship and celebration of Christ. Basically, this other poster said it's okay to let them make a "holiday" because we don't need that kind of association with something so sacred and holy. Non-Christians are going to act like non-Christians.

I thought about it and realized he was right. We Christians are facing many battles on many fronts. Although this "holiday" business is irritating, it's not such a focus for me anymore. In the light of the big picture, I need to keep my attention focused on winning others to Christ. That's the REAL way the hearts and lives of people are changed. Just a thought, my friend.

Of course you are right abc. It is a little more than a worldly irritant though. It is a government attack on our freedom. To tell a chorch they cannot have a nativity scene at city hall where it has been displayed fo many years or making us change Christmas to holidays is an insult to me! When people come to this country they need to assimilate to our way of life or don't come here! Right or wrong.

I completely agree with you. (little aside here) The last time we ate at our favorite Mexican restaurant, I noticed our server was wearing a wrist band for a hispanic political organization. I went home and researched it and was SHOCKED at the attitude of both legal and illegal immigrants supported by this group. It pains me to say I will not be able to eat at that restaurant again, now knowing that they support illegals coming in and taking over here. UGH!

I hate it when places drop Christmas in the name of something for holiday. However I see it less of a freedom issue then it is proof that less and less people in this country have strong Christian beliefs and a genuine understanding of the true meaning of Christmas. Sadly for more and more Americans, Christmas IS only just a holiday to them, so they don't see it as a big issue to switch the names. Just another way of phrasing it to them, so why not go along with requests to do so.

Steven, It is a freedom issue! I have been an american my whole life. This is MY culture. It's not about less and less people believing in Christ. Your right. They don't care about the name. They aren't the ones trying to change it. It is immigrants coming over here and trying to bring their culture with them. If they are coming here for a better life and want to retain their heritage....Hey! I'm all about that!. Land of the free!! But don't you DARE come over here and try to change what thousands have died for. MY RIGHT TO SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Wow - I'm wondering where your family came from and how they would have felt if they had been told to "go back" to wherever they came from.

This sort of nationalistic mindset is diametrically opposed to a Kingdom mindset. Maybe we should be worried about ministry to these people instead of acting as if we have some divine right to be here that they don't have.

We have a divine calling in this time, folks. It's time the Church in the U.S. got ready to get its hands dirty for Christ's Kingdom.

I'll tell you too! You don't like it here ? Leave!! Don't mess with the freedom of this country.

The church should get busy as well but I am talking about government intrusion pandering to people who want to control our rights.

Freedom includes the ability to disagree on issues such as these.

Political correctness doesn't have anything to do with freedom. If you have the freedom to celebrate Christmas as you wish, then you have lost nothing.

What you are suggesting is the imposition of your beliefs on others. Despite your service, you are not the only American. It is not "your" country exclusively. It also belongs to men and women of a variety of backgrounds and beliefs and cultures.

The constitution does not exist to preserve a particular culture.

Steven, I am not trying to argue with you. The constitution does exist to preserve a particular culture. This countries!! Christmas is a part of that. To not beable to observe it as we always have because it offends a small populace is irrelevant. It is part of Americas heritage. It offends me when I am told I can't say Merry Christmas because someone else is trying to control me. What about that? This country is a melting pot right? We should tolerate all belief structures without trying to destroy any. Love it or leave it!!

I enjoy reading your posts and I understand your plight. Did you check and see if this was the business that supported this organization or was it just the individual server?

It is your right to choose not to go there, but if it was an individual who is supporting this cause then you are allowing them to steal your joy of dining at one of your favorite restaurants.

It would be like someone seeing you do something that they did not approve of and chosing to leave or never attend the church you go to because of your one action. I bet if you checked closely you would find quite a few legal immigrants do not share the support of illegals coming into this country.

Now back to the OP. It does not bother me that they call a parade a Holiday Parade instead of a Christmas Parade. I have yet to witness a Parade that celebrates the birth of Christ.

In fact, when someone wishes me a Happy Holidays, I rather enjoy saying "Thank you, but I wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!"

This allows me to emphasize the birth of my Lord even more by intentional recognition instead of letting Christmas become a generic term.

What I am trying to say is : Have any holiday you want! Just stop trying to destroy the fabric of this country. If you come here assimilate, tolerate or go home. Don't try to control us because your offended. I'll buy you a box of tissues.

Thank you. The man is either co-owner or the manager, possibly both.

Back to the op: It's not so much the immigrants or even other religions that I see having a problem with "Christmas" greetings. It's the atheists and God-haters.

You may be right abc. But since when did the minority rule the majority? What about the majority being offended by athiests and God haters? Since when does the majority bend to the will of the minority?

Under the constitution, all religions are equal. I'm not saying it's right or that I agree. At the foot of the cross, that is not so, but in America, even the God-haters have the freedom to express their ignorant opinions.

In keeping with the constitution, rather than pulling a manger scene from public property, other religions could offer to have *their* decorations placed alongside. The Jews could have their candlesticks, Christians their nativity displays, atheists could have their, um, "season of reason" billboards or whatever, and the pagans could have their solstice decor (if they have such).

Rather than do that, it's just easier to silence the Christians. It's our own fault, for voting our pocketbooks instead of our values. When we vote in liberal homose*ual-loving, God-hating leaders to run our country, our towns, our schools, and our judicial systems, this is what happens. It doesn't help that some of the most ungodly just happen to have lots of money to help "fund" their causes.

Silencing the Christians is wrong. 90% of the people in this country claim to be christians. ABC you said that rather than let all religions have their say it is easier to silence the christians. This country was established under Judeo Christian principles. Yes I agree america elected liberal anti christian polititians. I did not. No matter who is elected we need to protect our constitutional rights. If you believe in tolerance of all faiths, why would you tolerate the abolishment of our christianity?

I agree. For the record, I don't think we should tolerate ALL faiths, Islam and Devil worship being at the top of the list, but that's a whole 'nother thread. If it were up to me, we'd still have Bible reading in public schools, public prayers, etc. I'm just saying that under our constitution, all faiths are given religious freedom, not just Christianity.

Your assertion is baseless. Show me one aspect of the constitution that seeks to preserve culture.

The constitution is set up to preserve liberties and to establish a system of government, not to preserve a form of culture.

I used to get all bent out of shape about this at one point, but you know what...there is so much out there we should be putting our energies into that getting worked up about this is just what Satan wants.

Fact is, it's a holiday season for many people, not all who celebrate Christmas. We are not commanded anywhere or even encouraged to celebrate Christ's birth...it is a man made holiday no matter how anyone tries to spin it. The priesthood of the believer allows for us to celebrate it in any manner we so choose, using any wording we so choose. You want to eliminate Christmas trees, presents, etc? That's fine. You want to include this aspect of the holiday season? That's also fine

Actually, I'm all for calling it a holiday, since that is just what it is, and it shows the world that as believers we all are not like Fred Phelps and can be normal sinners saved by God's grace. I will not be one of those Pharisaical people that I have run into where you say "happy holidays" they scowl and snort back Merry CHRISTMAS to you while emphasizing Christmas. To me that is more un-Christlike than smiling and returning the greeting.
