I missed the part on the plaque that says to sneak into the country under the cover of darkness illegally.

The plaque was written and concieved when we were a land under the rule of law and the rest of the world knew that as fact.

    Not so today...

I meane with so many reading between the lines and adding to the US Constitution can expect less of the Liberty Plaque?

An person who would illegally enter another country is not a person of good character.

We have enough people of poor character already without adding more.

What we want is the people of good character that come to this country legally.

besides, the illegals are not "homeless"...they have a home which they are incapable of putting in order.

The law was often bent. The acronym WOP that was stamped on some people's paperwork stood for "Without Papers". This allowed them to enter the country sort of semi-legally. Why was this doe for some? Because they had a skill that was considered needed by the country.

All of us are here because our ancestors immigrated here. Some came legally and some illegally. Some of us had ancestors who came here before there were such laws.

But aren't you proud that you live in a country people want to come to rather than flee?

In addition to which the illegals are not leaving the drug violence behind.

The Mexican drug cartels are moving to the U.S. right along with the other illegals from Mexico.

So logically if you are correct when you say:
It stands to reason that you believe the contrary is true. Ie.. "when" does not denote now. And now must be contrary to "when". Thus you believe currently we are a land that is not under rule of law and the rest of the world no longer understands that we are such. Thus if we are no longer a land under law how can there be such a thing as an "illegal" alien? Since as you've assumed legal no longer applies to this country.

Doesn't mean we should let every person stay who manages to make it over the border.

Here's a fun exercise that you could try...

When you take you little multi-country vacation that you are planning - leave all of your identification behind and try sneaking from country to country.

You could post a blog of your experiences with that.

I disagree entirely. Having lived in Africa and in Europe, I've come across illegal african immigrants. In their country of origin they are "starving", fighting off militias who constantly abuse and enslave them. Unlike here survival is not taken for granted. Men and women who love their children and want the very best for the next generation will go at all sorts of lengths to provide for them. These people are so poor they can't 1) bribe their own officials to apply for a proper visa. 2) have no skill that is marketable to make them acceptable in this country and cannot get a visa. Thus they are not permitted to leave their country for a better one. Faced with the prospect of no surviving or becoming enslaved they will go for the only option they see. Sneak into a country that is safer and that their children will be given a chance. These people may have the highest character but must do something to survive or face certain death. I am certain if American's were faced with this no matter "how christian" you may think you are you would break the law to survive.

So, then, we should remove all border crossings, and allow all people to come and go as they please, without any questions.

    Now that's just brilliant.

I can only speak to the illegal immigrant situation in the U.S.

If someone comes from such dire circumstances as you describe and feel forced to enter this country illegally - then being of good character they should present themselves to the appropriate authorities and plead their case.

Or laws make exceptions for certain circumstances.

To make the exception for oneself based on one's own opinion is not acting in good character.

The issue with that is now we have almost 10% unemployment and we can't afford to allow people to cross the border illegally.

    Sure, but see above.

Their government cant put in order....separate the lousy government from the people. If you were starving to death or you thought you could provide a better quality of life for your family, wouldn't you jump the fence?

That doesn't condone the situation however. But our own government chose to make it easy so here we are today confronted by a mess, an invasion if you will.
