Another question for other folks on the field.

How did you meet your spouse?

I have been on the field for 7 years and am typically surrounded by Muslims that I am doing ministry to. I rarely meet single women and even more so rarely meet women believers. I have only met a couple who have been involved in ministry in my time out.

    Tough fishing...

It will be hard where you are but who knows what God has in store? Keep up your service to Him and He'll work it out so you meet her. :)

I prayed for 9 years for God's will for a wife, and then God used the mission board to bring us together while I was on deputation. Here's what I prayed: Lord, please lead me me to the woman you have for me in such a way that all who hear the story know that You were leading.

God's perfect plan is best, and if it is God's will someday you will have great joy in your marriage. God bless!

I was working at First Union and my secretary and I were talking one day. She was teasing me and telling me that she was going to fix me up with one of her girlfriends, who worked in another department at the bank.

She arranged for me to "accidently" bump into her at a local diner. We hit it off immediately and made a date to go sailing later that week. We were pretty much inseperable after that and have been married for twenty-one years.

    No advertising intended :p

Sometimes, I think it would be weird to merry a westerner as so much of my life in in Arabic, if she did not know how to speak she would be an outsider for a long time... Just tough sometimes... It is hard to find women that want to be involved in ministry to Muslims, as it is more difficult and even dangerous at times.

Being single in a foreign land, especially a Gospel-resistant country, is a difficult thing. May God give you grace and strength, and in His time, a bride. Have a wonderful 2011 in the Lord's service!

I will pray for you. I believe God will truly provide.

This reminds me of a husband that said to his wife "How in the world can someone so beautiful be so dumb?"

The wife quickly replied "I guess God made me beautiful so you would love me, and God made me dumb so I would love you!"

    Nice one John :)

this week has been real tough. I have been sick since Christmas with a fever off and on and a real hard time breathing.

It was funny, I wanted to get some folks together for an evangelical gathering on Christmas, I had about 30 gathered on a street corner and then I just started vomiting. Not exactly the best street preaching story of the year.

I'm still not feeling too good. This sickness is messing up my asthma pretty good, so I don't want it to get bad and have to go to the government hospital, but at the same time i need to get out.

Oh my stars!! I'll be praying for healing for you!! Today is 4 weeks that I've been sick and I'm just finally beginning to get a little better although my illness induced asthma is still here and still making it hard to breathe at times. It really stinks but it was viral - there was really nothing we could do other than keep me well rested, hydrated and such. I hope you feel better soon!

Hang in there. When you find the right woman, you will look back and decide that it was worth the wait.

When I was in the hunt, so to speak, I actually considered having business cards proclaiming my eligibility printed up. I'm grateful I met my wife before I had to do that.
