Advocates: Dollar bills lead to debt

One could say that instead of worrying about what dollar currency we use, the government could have a go at being responsble and living within its means.

But hey...why would it bother trying to do that?

 

IIRC, Another problem was some $1 coins were too close to the Quarter Size and people inadvertently spent them as Quarters.

Coin Mechs in vending machines have also come further then when the coins first came out...

Might be time to try again...

Though, I really hate having to replace work pants just because the pockets are worn out!

 

You learn how to adapt. I ery rarely carry 10-12 1 or 2 euro coins in my pocket.

 

I'd like to know how they have encouraged the public. Personally if I want dollar coins I have to go to the bank to buy them. NO retailer uses them though they do accept them if they can figure out what they are for sure. Some young clerks just stare at them as though they cannot read what it says.

Pull all dollar bills and see if anyone uses the coins. Probably just bump everything up to five bucks or more :laugh:

 

Hmmm. When I save dollar bills, I get out of debt.

Maybe the government should try that.

 

Let's cut to the chase and eliminate US cash money. In theory, if the people didn't like it they could use Canadian money for everything except paying taxes and tolls.

I'm fine with it. But it's window dressing if they don't cut spending (they never do).

It would change spending patterns. IMO, we would spend more, for a season.

Think of it like this: I might not think much of spending what change I have in my pocket. Right now, it's only 2 or 3 bucks.

In theory, I'm still spending "change." But...it might be 10-15 bucks now. (Especially if we talk more than $1 coins--such as the $2, 3, or 5 equivalents seen elsewhere).

It's the same rationale used by many (me included) in which we carry a large bill on purpose so that we won't "break" it and spend it...that principle in reverse.

But, as C4K said...we'd adapt.

Let's just not pull the stupidity we did with the Susan B. Anthony dollar (the Quarter's twin).

 

This fails to address the real problem.

Government printing presses lead to government debt. It's happening as we speak.

 

The US Government's printing press "On/Off" switch is controlled by Congress!!!:tonofbricks::BangHead:

And they---along with the potus can't find their rear ends even if they use both hands!!!!---much less being able to turn the switch to "OFF"

 

One of the reasons is that, thanks to financial reporting laws, most of the people who run for office have not done anything. They don't read the laws because they don't know how to read laws.
