Matthew 7:13-14 (New Living Translation)“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell[a] is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the path is difficult, and only a few ever find it."

The Federal government and our elected officials have added one more lane to the "broad road to Hell" by striking down the "Don't ask, don't tell!" in our military service, and as VP Biden stated on Christmas Eve, "His views on same sex marriage are evolving, and same sex marriage was inevitable."

If a society allows sin to get a foothold, it will rush in and take over. :tear:

While many see this new law as social progress and a good sign for political correctness, it is still a sin, and now it is a law.

How long will it before the government passes a law to make same gender marriage legal? I think it is within a year or two! :tear:

Somehow, the actions and celebration in DC this past week only served to make me more saddened for a society on the "Highway to Hell!"

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul :type:

I'm waiting for the new law or policy directed to conservative Christians--"Don't Ask Don't Preach"!

We have an obligation to preach the Word (not man's ideas) and have the joy of freedom to guide/change our government. If we do nothing (proverbial shrug our shoulders and blame God) we get the kind of government we deserve.

Those who are willing to and actually are speaking up are being ignored. It is not that we deserve what is happening, it is that government has grown too big for its britches.

It is the man who does not know what kind of government that we are supposed to have and supports those currently in power that deserves the kind of government that we have.

When I was ordained I was given the following in my charge:

(2Ti 4:2) Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

    and

(Eph 6:12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I fully expect that some of us will be jailed for preaching the word and rebuking sin in high places. If it happens then we must use it to the glory and honor of God. Christian people must stand up for what is right in the eyes of God.

    A fellow servant in Christ

You ever read of Dietrich Bonhoeffer??? The man was a Man of God---his order against Nazi Germany ran along the lines of our good Dr. Bob----he met death at the end of a rope---just a few days prior to Germany's surrender!!

In part this has already started. Military chaplains have been limited in how the express their faith. Some have been discharged for mentioning the name of Jesus.

pastor I don't see this as the culprit to our demise as you seem to suggest. I think this is sign of the condition of the church. We are to be the salt and light and because we are doing what we should this is the result. I do agree that this will continue to grow and get worse, but that is because the church is going to continue to degrade and become more like the world and I think the bulk of the blame lies with the pastors and teachers in the church today. We have become full of programs and lacking on teaching and holiness.
I was just last week talking to someone about this. These pastors today are all required to take Greek (those who go through seminary). yet less then 1% even allude to the Greek in preaching on a regular bases and even fewer actually teach it to their congregation's. Most pastors today give the same messages every week. They offer the gospel in some form and never train the people as to how to live godly lives. What we then have is the church full of people who never grow into mature spiritual Christians each left with their own personal understanding of scripture and what it means.
So while this new law is not to my liking the roots of the problem are not with this change. It started many years ago when we departed from the faith. We have become a people forever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth all because we want our ears tickled insted of having our hearts revived.
