Education never caused a man to preach or understand the deep things of the scripture, neither did ignorance. With that said, almost every post, almost every thread on the Baptist Board has turned into I’m right and you are wrong and it is implied that this is true because I have a seminary education and you don’t. (Although it won’t be admitted). By the way I don’t have one. If a person truly wants to be educated over the deep things of the scripture, then prayer and supplication to God is where we need to start.

If our theology comes from anywhere other than what says the word of God it has come from the wrong place. I am not slamming any “great” theologian but if we read his book, whose theology are we getting? I’ll let you answer that one. When I have questions I go to God, He provides the answers one way or another. read into that anything you want. I see very little evidence of prayer going on over the posts that are made. I’m just as guilty as the next person. Should not all of our talks and discussion on this board be to the edification of and the glory of God?

    A couple of more thoughts:
Where does wisdom and knowledge come from? I’ll let the scripture answer that one
(Pro 9:10) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

And as I have said many times before:
It is not about me, it is not about you. It is all about the one that came suffered and died and set us free by His atoning blood.

Brother, I respect you for one reason, and love you for one reason: Because you are a brother.

Whether you had an education, or not, I respect you because you are a brother.

    What you said is correct.

I also concur it is all about Him. I said so on another thread, and am being taken to task as what I said is "untrue" or "a lie." If our dear brother would go back and re-read my posts, he'd see I already said what he said. Instead he's going on a blind rant.

You try to turn it toward Christ, say the same things a brother says which he didn't read, and instead of turning it toward Christ and actually reading and actually agreeing, it turns into a "you're wrong!!!!" tirade.

Some can't do that, they read half your post, and address that part only, yet are "experts" of contextual analysis. Somehow, they feel that what you have said is a complete exhaustive analysis. :BangHead:

Yep. The objective is "he must be wrong, because I am always right" so they don't read the entire thread, nor can they admit you've actually said the same things they are now saying, while thinking they're teaching you. Unreal.

May I be permitted to point out that man has not taught me about God. What some of you have done, and I sincerely thank you for it, is lead me back into scripture.

That is why I am here.

So true. The arrogant can't admit that, when he addressed a brother wrongly, and never actually read that the one he is addressing, actually said the same things. That is arrogance and ignorance in action, all in one.

So when you go to church, no one has ever taught you about God?

I apologize. I hate we can't get past this arrogance business. I suppose you have called me arrogant more than a dozen times since you joined.

I may indeed have missed some of the things you said- for that I am sorry.

I hope somehow you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

    Are you a pastor?

Have you been given the gift to teach?

If not you may be in rebellion against God- because he has raised up teachers to teach you.

If you think you don't need what God says you need- that is problematic.

I can absolutely forgive you and do since you are admitting to misrepresenting me.

I call you what you act like to get your attention. I'm sure that away from your computer you are much more docile.

Actually take time to read what I say, as I do you, before responding, it's becoming of us to do so.

Sometimes people on here are actually right. Amazing aint it!!!!?

    I lubzya man!

    Now, go preach something good!

Preaching this morning on "A God of New Things" (preparing for New Years)

"Behold I make all things new."

    God delights to do this.

He designed life in such a way that we receive greatest joy from new things:
A new born baby, a new job, marriage signifying the new life two have together, a new discovery, etc...

We delight in those things because God delights in those things.

He delights to make all things new.

    II. New Name
    III. New Song
    IV. New Home

My feelings is the attitude he exemplifies is somehow supposed to be akin to being super spiritual.

Don't it sound super humble at the same time?

I have learned a lot concerning God from many many people. Preachers, books, commentators and such. I am indebted.

And also, of course through reading and meditating upon His Word. As a matter of fact, very often, whatever I am studying, I'll turn on the radio, open a book, and see more about this subject as though God is helping me and leading me along. That right there is a feeling full of awe and lends itself to us being thankful to Him for it and Glorifying Him.

Exactly. This is why God raised up teachers- to edify us.

They do when we let them.

What a blessing it is to be able to turn on the radio or subscribe to a podcast and be fed by great men who God has gifted to teach us.

What a tremendous blessing which those who are too arrogant to recognize and submit themselves under this gift miss!

If you don't already have it, check out bott radio network. Is that the station you listen to? You can listen to them online too.

One of my favorite preachers on there is Erwin Lutzer. I also like John MacArthur Jr.

When I was a child and was dragged to church, the god I heard about is not the God I know now.

I learned about Jesus on my own, reading for myself, thousands of miles from home. Now I find myself listening to people who create rules for congregation members that do not agree with scripture, yet they are not questioned by the church body. Afterall, the "Preacher said......."

I don't find scripture too difficult unless I read one written in old English.

What people do for me is peak my interest.

I understand exactly what you are saying. People who say or write something I don't understand causes me to pray, read, study, and discuss scriptures with others. If I am sincere in my endeavors God will supply.

    "Knowledge, Wisdom, Theology and Understanding"

Some of the greatest wisdom I have gleaned from others, has been by watching the examples they set, in how they lived their lives.

It is so very easy to find someone willing to tell others what is right, or what is best to believe. It is much harder to find people that will daily live their lives in a consistent Godly way, displaying what the scriptures teach.

I have been so very blessed to have known a handful of people who have influenced me greatly by doing so.
