Do you think it is important for your church to have Sunday night services?

When I was a young believer "baby christian" you couldn't keep me out of Sunday night services. Now I don't attend because I witness online in the evenings and still remembering Sunday morning message. I think it's great to have it available for new believers and for accountability. :type:

I see no biblical precept or example for morning and evening worship services on Sunday. If a church wants to have an evening service, that's fine. I don't think the fact that a person chooses to not attend that service should be a test of their spiritual temperature.

By the way, there are many small rural churches in my area that have not had Sunday night services in decades. There are also larger city churches that have ceased in recent years to have Sunday night services. I have nho problem with it.

I voted very important, we try to go as much as possible on Sundays and Wednesday nights. Sometimes we miss on Sundays if visiting with family or we are just completely worn out from the past week. Sometimes work causes me to miss Wednesday night.

I don't see anything in the Bible saying we have to attend everytime the doors are open. The reason I go is because I need it. I need a break from the world, I need to see friendly faces of other believers, I need to hear God's word. There has been many times I've gone on a Sunday and Wednesday night when I didn't feel like it, and end up getting there and recieving a blessing.:godisgood:

Very important, at least for me. Since I first became a Christian, Sunday night services were always my favorite meetings of the week. I always enjoyed the more family atmosphere and the closeness associated with these services.

I grew up going to church three times a week (maybe more.) Sunday mornings and night were expected.

Now, you'd have to hold a gun to my head to get me to go back on a Sunday night.

We spend valuable time on Sunday evenings with family. Its a better return on investment imho.

I appreciate churches that do Sunday evening. Just not something I'm gonna do soon.

Editted to add: I will say this. I find Sunday morning services to be fine but if I were starting something new I'd go to Sunday afternoon. Start a service that meets at 1:30 or 2:00 and goes until about 4:00 or so. Now too much of our society is geared around Sunday morning...they don't start NFL games until church lets out still...but I think Sunday afternoon would be super.

Robert- you expressed what I wanted to say better than I could, thus a thank you is in order as well as an amen!

I voted "other" because (as someone else said) there is nothing laid down in scripture about the timing of Lord's Day services. I know some churches that have just one service on the Lord's Day, and others that have one in the morning and one in the afternoon. But if my church does have a service in the evening (and it does), I feel it a privilege to be there.

    It's in the Bible!

Of course, if the preacher kills a church member with his evening message, he has to be able to resurrect him too.

I've not been to a church that had a Sunday night service in years. At least since junior high school!! I want people to enjoy their families and maybe have a ministry to their neighbors on Sunday afternoon/evening.

Exactly my thoughts too, except the "gun to the head" part!

I enjoy Sunday night services at our church. There are a little less formal and with smaller numbers, a little more relaxed and personable.

I don't believe that NOT going to church on Sunday nights is a sin in any way shape or form, but it's my preference.

Sunday night services bring back horrible memories from my youth.

I say get rid of them.

I voted other...priesthood of the believer. If it's important, do it. If it's not, don't.

Could you share a couple of those horrible memories?

Actually, I have found evening services to be great. That is when we would usually have youth night - on of the older teens would actually preach, others would sing and otherwise be in charge of the full service.

Lest any one not realize - NO, it is NOT a sin to skip Sunday night. Rather, I like Psalms 122:1
" I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. "

What better time is there for a family to spend together than with God's people in worship!

Personally, no. Our church doesn't do it, and I'm fine with that.
