I have always had a problem with presidential approval ratings. Normally, its approve/ disapprove/ no opinion. Upon interviewing, say 1000 adults, 594 approve of his performance - which of translates to a 59% approval rating. Then lets say, the POTUS does something the very next day that is just a Godsend - now his approval rating that day is now up to 73%. Three days latter he does something dumb, now he is down to a 39% approval.

IMHO, the poll should ask "On a scale of 1-100, how do you rate the President? I think we would get a much better picture of his approval/disapproval.

    Thoughts?

I think with 300 million people in this country you'd have to poll at least 10 million people to get an acruate poll result. But I do agree with how you think the poll should be done, that'd be much better.

Try Rasmussen Reports --- they do this on a daily basis as well as many other polls. Quite interesting and he is usually on target.
