I'm looking for a new subject to dive into for debate.

I'm sick of the KJVO debate......

I'm nauseated now by the Calvinism/Arminianism debate......

End times discussions become pointless since each "camp" will just bunker down and not listen to each other. Its fruitless since only the Father knows the day and hour anyways.

I'm just looking for suggestions and its 5 AM :tongue3:. Maybe legalism? Or an apologetics subject?

That would be an extremely good debate. I think I could learn alot from such a debate.

Lots of good, controversial subjects that have NOT been beaten to death in the 12 years I've camped out on the BB. Most have seen only limited debate.

Covenant v Dispensational (or like me, shades in between)
    Rapture v Revelation
    Dichotomy v Trichotomy
Pastor v Elder (throw in plurality to make it more fun)
    Baptist v Protestant
    Local v Universal Church
    Home v Foreign Mission
    Bible College v Secular Universities
    Christian Sabbath v Sunday
    Hymns v P&W
    Male v Female Leadership

I've never been in a church where there were "Elders". What is that all about?

Actually you have. Your pastor properly may wear the title elder.

And you may address him properly as bishop, as well.

Here's how I arrived at that. Acts 20, Paul calls the elders from Ephesus to come to Miletus to see him. In his farewell discourse he urges the Ephesian elders to "take heed to the flock, over which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers (bishops)." Their attention to the flock suggests that one of their duties to shepherd (pastor) the flock. Same persons, different titles.

In I Peter 2:25, Peter describes Jesus as the Shepherd (Pastor) and Bishop of our souls. Same person, different titles.

Oops, sorry. This is a thread for suggesting debate subjects. Didn't mean to actually start one. When I saw met65's question, I couldn't resist.

Please don't respond to my post on elders. Let's start a new thread instead, if anybody has a low resistance like mine.

    Bobs list:
Covenant v Dispensational (or like me, shades in between)
    Rapture v Revelation
    Dichotomy v Trichotomy
Pastor v Elder (throw in plurality to make it more fun)
    Baptist v Protestant
    Local v Universal Church
    Home v Foreign Mission
    Bible College v Secular Universities
    Christian Sabbath v Sunday
    Hymns v P&W
    Male v Female Leadership

I'm up for Baptist vs Protestant and Home vs Foreign Missions. :applause: And the Hymns vs P&W should get pretty hot fast.

    Matthew 27
    51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

What happened to these people ("saints") and where are they now?

Did they go back to heaven with Christ?
    Remain on earth?
    Have to die again?

Looks like the Bible is silent as to what eventually happened, unless somebody points to Christ carrying captivity captive, which by the way, one of my seminary professors said is what happened, but which some of us never bought into.
