    The State Against Blacks

    EXCERPT

Even in the antebellum era, when slaves often weren't permitted to wed, most black children lived with a biological mother and father. During Reconstruction and up until the 1940s, 75% to 85% of black children lived in two-parent families. Today, more than 70% of black children are born to single women. "The welfare state has done to black Americans what slavery couldn't do, what Jim Crow couldn't do, what the harshest racism couldn't do," Mr. Williams says. "And that is to destroy the black family."

Agreed, but I don't expect much discussion here. BB members tend to shy away from discussions concerning race.

But just maybe they'll read this insightful article by a black man.

The left gets too busy patting themselves on the back. They want to bad to prove Limbaugh & Palin are the racists, they get tunnel vision. You saw the left leave my thread about the racist butcher in PA alone. When dishonesty is your biggest weapon, you cannot be bothered to look at facts.

I bet they're glad they stopped Limbaugh from owning the football team. Meanwhile, real victimes go unheralded by these liars.

The civil rights act of '64 and the end of red lining allowed professional black people to move out of their ghetto and live with professional white people. What passes for black culture these days is an amalgam of white trash and black trash culture, call it what you wish.

When you take a segment of any population and you find:

An incarceration rate 6 times greater than whites. Department of Justice numbers (March 2009), there are 4777 black men in jail for every 100,000 in population. There are only 727 whites. Blacks make up 13% of the population of the United States, but account for 40% of the prison population.

The linked Wall Street Journal article contains the statistic that 70% of black children are born to single mothers. Great article by the way, I have always loved Walter Williams.

In 2006 there were 1,242,000 abortions in the United States. (US census bureau) Blacks make up 13% of our population, but accounted for 464,000 (37.4%) of those abortions. For every 1000 white women in 2006 there were 14 abortions. For every 1000 black women, there were 50.

So you have this segment of our population, 13% or so, and in this segment you have higher arrest rates, higher illegitimacy rates, higher abortion rates.

I know I am going to offend someone here but I’m going to say it anyway. You can call that a racial problem, an economic problem, or a social problem. You can call it whatever you want, but the honest truth is that it is a spiritual problem. I believe we must lay at least a share of the blame on the African American religious leaders who traded the gospel for government activism.

I have known many fine African American pastors, men who I respect and have learned from. I have even preached in their pulpits, but I have known many others who were no more than political and social activist hiding behind the title of Reverend while they had nothing to do with the preaching of the gospel.

There will be a change in the condition of the African American “community” when there is a revival in their churches. Nothing else will address the cause of their despair or bring hope of change.

The Demoncrats bought off the Black vote with welfare - and destroyed the Black American family in the process.

I was thankful to see the Breakpoint (I think that was it) piece about racial genocide happening in the African-American community via abortion.

The tragedy of the African-American experience over the last two generations will likely be talked about for eons. Seeing an entire race of people who have the highest levels of dysfunction and immoral behavior wiped away should make us weep. These are our fellow image bearers.

As the hard-core rap scene exploded into popularity through the lens of violence it has exacerbated the situation. African-American intellectuals who have asked honest questions about music, culture, etc are routinely shouted down and cast as "Uncle Toms." Think about the amazing thing Bill Cosby did for my generation, we grew up seeing his television family as a normal family without consideration of their race. Their friends were integrated. Something never seen on television before. Now he is at the margins of the discussion because he made sense.

If you want to see the pit of this whole thing one need only look to the predominate forms of African-American theological expression in churches. It is primarily charismatic worship infused with prosperity gospel. When Robert Tilton got back into the prosperity business he exclusively aired his "ministry" on BET. He returned to the people he knew he could fleece.

It is tragic what is going on. Thankfully some advances have been made. Because of the civil rights struggle and the success of numerous good measures, there are doors of opportunity for those who want it. Too often, though, those doors are still out of reach or sit behind clouds of indifference from generational dependence on government aid.

We need to change our country.

Things are never as simple as "these people's problem is just this...".

In passing, it's funny about "no-one wanting to discuss race", because people are usually complaining about a "race card" being played on them, when a different perspective of the issue is being presented. It seems to be only OK in the counterdefense, to audit the race for its "greater problems".
And then we see it totally escalates into out of control emotion and attacks.

But I'm sure everyone is aware, as SpiritualMadMan alluded to, that "spiritual problems" are not unique to only certain segments of mankind. All of man is "dysfunctional".
Conservative Christianity has long complained about the falling morality of the larger Western society, as well as, now, the "compromise" of the "new-evangelical" church at large.

On the other hand, in the Black community, you had also long had ultraconservative preachers who hollered and thundered the people into submission, regulating every aspect of their lives with strict rules, and telling them to just accept their lot in life, and wait for "Heaven". Let's not forget about THAT! (And this in the age when people seem to think everything was "better" or "godly").

This actually is what led many of them to rebel and adopt social gospel, Black Muslims or Revolutionary groups in the first place. (And of course, now, the "promises" of the prosperity gospel look hopeful to many. Both the old religion as well as the new were heavily charismatic infused).

So it was at the same time when all of society (not just one group) threw off the "old-time religion". The problems were there all along, in all of society, not created in one generation or one subculture.

In most other places, including online discussion, the race issue has become much less relevant. People are people, and we all have our opinions and contributions on every subject or situation. So I think the race issue would finally disappear if people (either side) did not keep using it as a political football in their wars against the other "wing". That seems to be when these spats (in political discussions) come up.
So this one group is not getting all the tax money nor draining the economy or anything like that. Give 'em a break, already.

In fact, many blacks were also all along suspicious of the government, including the liberals, and seeing how the policies continued the subjugation in one form or another. Again, Sharpton, Jackson and the NAACP do not really speak for the entire community. Most take them for granted, and otherwise don't think of them all that much.

As for the problems that do remain, it is hard for an entire group of people to just up and break out of some of those patterns.
Most of it has become subculture anyway. Like the rappers and others still promoting that "thug" or "babymama/ho" image are not still poor. They're rich just like any other entertainer.
So the whole race and its "dysfunction" cannot be blamed for those images, like if they would all just "get it together", all of this would disappear.
It's just the role they have taken in pop culture (based loosely on the earlier dysfunction, and trying to capitalize off of it), just like the rich blonde or brunette "bimbos" who grace entertainment news everyday with their sex antics or outrageous outfits or whatever.

As for all the abortions and stuff like that; that's the moral state of the entire "civilized" world. There is nothing going against everyone fornicating. For kids of every race, there is something wrong with you if you aren't.
That leads to unwanted pregancies, whether you abort, or become a single parent.
There are still Bible-preaching churches in the communities; but who today is really listening to them?

Let me add my 3 cents worth -

First I despise the the term "African American" Exactly what does it mean - (thats a subject unto itself)

We need to consider ourselves Americans, first. When we start to have these sub groups, whether it is race, ethnic, gender - ect we are excluding an awful lot of folks.

Why do we have Miss Black America? If Blacks were not allowed in Miss America, that might be one thing. Why do we have - fill in the blank.

And as Christians - we often are just as guilty. Unless it is a church sponsored event - we do not involve ourselves - and that is just downright wrong! We need to get outside our Christian circle, meet others - which can open a field white unto harvest.

Likewise - racial groups need to be more open and not just huddle among themselves.

But often we feel more secure with others who are similar to us.

    Thoughts?

Don't know about the Bible Belt, but on the Left Coast the demographic classification of "Black" is self-designated. Half the people who claim to be "black" have a lighter skin tone than Italians and other southern Europeans.

Prior to 1964 there was no ECONOMIC advantage to being classified as black and it was very rare for a white person to pass as black unless he was a jazz musician. When hiring and promoting on the basis of "race" became PC several of my previously white co-workers became something else.

At least on the left coast all the old social rules against inter-everything, anything marriage are gone . . . if young people bother to get married. he available marriage/sexual/partner/whatever pool for any specific person is no longer limited by skin color, religion, politics, ethnics . . . but is wide open and unlimited.

It is my observation and prediction that people will mate on the basis of ambition, ability, and education. voluntary Social Darwinism (maybe Darwinism) at work. Westerners are self-segregating into a professional class and a serf class.

20 years ago I thought this was an example of the Law of Unintended Consequences. Maybe the Civil Rights Act was a planned part of the intentional on-going destruction of the US middle class . . . the timing was right.

    Right...

Those with ambition and those without.

Those who take a risk and those who won't.

Those who believe in self reliance and those who are reliant on the government.

Those things, unfortunately, arose at a time when blacks weren't allowed in those things. Then, by the time that changed, the "black" version had become established, with its own history and memories, which no one wants to give up.
An example in the Church is the National Association of Evangelicals and the National Association of Black Evangelicals.
Ideally, they should probably fold into each other, but then, who is going to step down and cede to whom? (That's basically the way it is with organizations and other institutions. They are designed to prolong their own existence, and they are seats no one wants to give up.).

It's all just unfortunate that such divisions had to come up in the first place.

I think it's a bit more than just that.

The "serfs" in this case aren't just those trying to rely on the government. When people speak of the populace becoming "serfs", that generally includes the majority of the work force, including even many "professionals". (and of course, this already extends way beyond race by now). They work hard all day, and then can still hardly make ends meet. Some will blame this on the high cost of living, while others focus on high taxes and bad political policies. (And it doesn't have to be one or the other).

So if the solution is all these "risks" and "ambition"; (and there are factors that affect this, such as personality type and opportunities such as people you know, inheritance, etc), then are superdriven people who only live to strive for the top the only ones who deserve a decent living?

The aim is not to say the government should do all their battles for them, but that on one hand, we say "life is not fair"; but many of these arguments make it seem as if life is fair! (Everybody is getting exactly what they "earned"), when again, it is not as as simple as that.
