One of our deacons at church was diagnosed with cancer just 10 weeks ago. His wife is an employee at church as the coordinator of all of our small group ministries. Since diagnosis, he's gone downhill so fast and my husband just called - the doctors told the family to say their good-byes. He's expected to not make it past tomorrow.

This man is a very dear man with a heart for God. He has two teen daughters - Noelle is 17 and Gabby is 14. I know the family will do alright because their whole church family is here to help them but there is nothing we can do about their broken hearts. His name is Greg and his wife is Doreen.

I can't even begin to imagine - he was FINE but with an annoying cough. Then he had some neck pain and in investigating that, they found that he had lung cancer and it was very aggressive. It's been just 10 weeks.

Ann, I'm so sorry. I saw your request on Facebook and have been praying for Greg and his family. I will continue to pray. As dire as it sounds, God has the last Word. I firmly hold on to God's sovereignty in whatever happens.

Thanks Pam. Still no word on him but I know one of our other pastors, his wife, daughter and son in law were there last night singing with him, praying with him and just ministering to him. There were others there as well and they are talking on Facebook today about what a blessed time it was. Fortunately he's at peace and knows where he's going but it still hurts to think of his wife and daughters being left behind.

I'm at church right now and all staff was just called into a meeting. The doctor told Greg's wife Doreen that there's no hope of Greg getting better and right now, the ventilator is just extending death. So it's been decided to take him off the ventilator and allow his time to come if that's what God desires. So please pray for the family as it looks like Greg's "graduation" time is near.

Thank you for letting us know Ann. This is so sad. We know he's with the Lord, but still so hard for his family and friends. The disease moved so quickly... :tear:

It really did. From the time of diagnosis to death, he never had improvement - only getting worse. It was stunning how fast it went. I had said to my family that I didn't think he'd make it to his daughter's graduation. I didn't think he wouldn't make it to February!!

Lord, we do not understand why such precious saints have to suffer such pain and disease, we do know that He is safe and healed with You! Now Lord, we
pray for those who have lost their husband, dad, friend, and etc. we pray that You will comfort them at this time and be a means to help the family to continue to serve You with their special talents in which You have given to them. :1_grouphug:
