The Tea Party has been accused of being racist because of accusations of racist statements and lack of minorities in the movement. In the following video there are clear examples of racist language at a progressive rally. Using the same standard for the Tea Party (except with progressive actually finding a real example) is the entire progressive movement racist?

How can any political platform that advocates affirmative action based on race not be racist?

Bill, you are absolutely right - it must have been a bunch of Tea-baggers just acting as progressives to make them look bad

I do not hold to the idea that all progressives are racist. My point is only that if they use spurious standards to accuse the Tea Party of racism (which is only political demonization to discredit the movement, it is not actually a legitimate claim) then should they not be held to their own standard?

Of course - but that does not detract for the fact that it has been and continues to be white liberals (or progressives as they like to call themselves these days) that have kept the Black American population on the Democrat plantation.

Nope, it was a rally organized by the liberal group Common Cause and sponsored by the leftist group Code Pink.

I know I hate being spoken to and treated in a condescending manner. I imagine most of us, if not all of us, feel that way.

That's why I'm amazed at how so many in the black community aren't offended by the condescending attitudes of so many liberals. It's the idea of, "you need folks like me to be in power...because we're going to take care of you. We know you're too poor, too weak, too unintelligent, and too victimized to be self-reliant. So, we'll make sure you never have a problem."

On a broader but related issue...since the progressive movement (hate that moniker...let's stick with "leftist, liberal, anti-freedom," etc.) have continued their crusade that all cultures and cultural backgrounds are of completely equal merit; that there is NOTHING distinctive or superior about America.

So, following that logic, one cannot argue that Stalin's Russia was in any way inferior to America.

That cultural nonsense is fouling up the works. What room for discussion do you have when you can't even agree that it would be better to base a country on principles of liberty and individual responsibility rather than communistic ideals?

To put it briefly (too late!):

    What should be the view:
    • All persons are created equally, and have the same inherent value and basic rights.
    • All cultures are not equal. Some are superior to others.
    What progressives teach:
    • Some persons are "more equal than others." Example: it is a worse crime for a straight person to murder a homosexual than vice-versa (hate crime).
    • All cultures are equal. American culture and values is in no way superior to a cannibalistic tribe from New Guinea.
    Backwards, it is.

Since DDT has been banned, 880,000 African people a year die of Malaria. Since they are overwhemingly black, the left does not seem to want to repair their mistake.

They replaced the father in the inner-city with welfare, food stamps, and ghettos to live in. The majority of the affected families are black, so the results of the meddling are not examined.

The majority of murdered fetuses are black.

One of the primary purposes of labor unions was, and still is, to keep minorities from getting the higher paid jobs.

One of the primary purposes of the pro abortion movement is population control of blacks.

The problem with that is that what is a "culture", but a unit consisting of individuals. If the culture is superior, then it appears that the individuals making up that culture are superior as well, and this is what has often happened in practice. And superior was often taken to mean "has the right to rule over the inferior". This is why people reject the term so much.

What we are comparing is called "cultural sins". Cannibalism is one sin, dictatorship is another, and many of the things Americans and other "civilized" societies do are other sins.
So while yes, certain group behaviors might be "better" or "worse", we have to be very careful with that word "superior", especially as applied to groups of people.

As for the double standard of "more equal", that is when they try to compensate for what they see as inequity. This may not [always] be right, but it is still an attempt to (in their view) maintain the equality of the individual.

Also, many blacks are suspicious of the liberals or Democrats, seeing them at least as little more the "lesser of two evils", just as many of you now see the Republicans. They are put off by the condescension, and pretense of helping out as well.

This race issue keeps coming up under the banner of "Democrats vs Republicans", but the races are really not as at odds in political observation as this makes it seem. It sounds like a smokescreen for a political system, that I think we all at times have noted, does not really care about the country at all; either party, and both races feel that same way.

Eric, I find the lack of black people on this board interesting. In my poll on race, I found that this board is 88.89% white and only 2.78% black, African American, or Negro. Why do you think there aren't many black people on this message board?

Does anyone remember the liberal here, who gave us a complete list of the different minorities he had allowed into his home ? Yes, the progressives are at least as racist as they people they accuse of being racists.
