Men are like fish ?

“And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers.
And he said unto them, Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matt. 4:18&19)

Jesus likens men to fish. In what ways are men like fish?

I do lawn care for a living and I also teach youth (teen) Sunday School. My pastor allows me to teach from the bible rather than using a S.S. book. I had been teaching on various subjects, when one of my students got married. In my area kids get married young, but I wasn’t expecting any of my students to get married in the near future. This girl had just finished the 11th grade. I had been out of town for 2 weeks and when I returned I was told she had gotten married. This shocked me and it also gave me a sense of urgency, as I felt the need to start preparing the kids to be spouses and parents. I started teaching on marriage, divorce, headship, and the home. I eventually finished up on those subjects and wasn’t sure what I would teach next. One day while working this thought kept coming to me “Men are like fish”. I was sure I was receiving this message from the Holy Spirit. I put just a little thought into it and brushed it off though. The message just kept coming in and eventually I started to see just a little. Then I found that this “men are like fish” thing was on my mind day and night. I seemed to get on a trail and I could see it was leading somewhere. It was on my mind so much that I began making mistakes at work. For example, in some cases where I attended to grab my weed whacker, I would grab my stick edger instead but wouldn’t realize it until I arrived at the work area and was about to start it. It started to get bad as things liked that happened daily. Eventually though it turned out to be a big blessing as I learned a lot from it. The Lord showed me how to teach the kids on the “words of salvation” through it. It also took me places in the bible and stopped in the garden of Eden. I will share what I learned in a later post but I also would like to expand on what I have learned. I would like to hear from others on how “men are like fish”.

To help get you started I will share my first two thoughts on the matter.

“There are other fish in the sea” and “I threw her back”.

 

That is funny and Im suprised I have never heard it before. I will pass it on to my Catholic relatives. Im sure they will love it.

Everybody knows a guy named 'Red"

The guy that hustles people at the pool hall is called a "pool shark"

A group of guys that play football in Miami are known as "Dolphins"

A group of guys that play baseball in Florida are known as "Marlins"

At the rapture the Christian will be "caught up"

Men eat fish and every now and then fish eat men.

Big fish prey on little fish and big kids prey on little kids.

 

That is good. Im wondering if "eternal life" fits in there somewhere. Perhaps in place of missions/ministry?

Oh I knew a guy that liked the hunter approach. It was almost like "Recieve Christ or get shot. Take your pick".
