I have never heard a sermon from the Song of Solomon. Have any of the pastors out there ever preached one, or have the lay people heard a sermon? If so, what was the essence of the message?

I've not preached on SoS. My best recommendation is to look up Dr. Danny Akin (of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary). SoS is his favorite book and I heard him deliver a series of messages on it. Those messages, I think, were turned into a book.

The book is about sex and romance--but not in a lewd or romance-novel kind of way.

Dr. Akin's teaching on the book is second-to-none.

    Blessings,

    The Archangel

I've read somewhere that the book is also about Christ and the church. I don't know about that one though. Has anyone else heard that before?

Mark Driscoll is one of the most foul mouthed over sexed individuals anyone can listen to. His ministry is a ministry of perversion. He could not be considered a good biblical teacher as he is a disgrace to the pulpit.

Have you listened to him recently? He's actually an excellent biblical teacher and is spot on in most everything I've heard him teach. Yes, at one time, he cursed but he repented of that. Too bad the church doesn't forgive as well as God does.

it has been about a year since I last listened to him. If he has changed since then that is good, but one year is not enough for me to give any kind of support because if what he was doing. he should have stepped down and i still see him as a foul mouth perverted speaker obsessed with sex. And I am not sure that God has forgiven him and neither are you. If you have some public confession he has given i would like to listen to it and maybe i would change my mind.

I've been listening to him for a few years and not heard anything foul or perverted come out of his mouth. As for the obsessed with sex, addressing that issue with the congregation he has is a good thing. Sex is healthy - and the Song of Solomon is quite clear on that. However, he's also clear to speak of sex in the proper setting. I don't know - I don't think you've listened to him much. The Song of Solomon series is from '08, I think.

You are correct. I have not listened to him that much. last year i did listen to one of his perverted ramblings and that was enough Again if you have any public confession he has made i might change my mind, but the last I listened to he was perverted and clearly over sexed in his discussion. i am a little shocked that you would defend this pervert and stand against the man who preached against women showing their back side. Seems a little strange or perverted.
here is an article about him from 2009
    http://defendingcontending.com/2009/06/24/i%E2%80%99ve-had-it-with-mark-driscoll-and-his-mouth-now-it%E2%80%99s-personal/

I assure you he has not repented.

The only reason someone whould follow this guy is because they are as perverted as he is.

mark driscol is clearly spoken of in the book of jude; 1:4-13
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Nor have I seen those in that link repenting of taking words out of context. Listen to what he says in context and I assure you that they are not offensive.

Yes, I will defend Mark Driscoll. Is he perfect? Absolutely not. I've stuck my foot in my mouth numerous times even in a leadership role. However, when we understand who he is the shepherd of, we begin to understand just why he teaches as he does. Yes, his words are strong but they are pretty much right on.

Like I said he is spoken of in Jude and anyone who follows him or defends him is either totally blind or a perverted as he is. he is a spot and blemish, a scab to be discarded as he shames the name of Christ.
Also nothing was taken out of context. I have personally listened to him as well as his wife and mark driscoll is a pervert using the pulpit to promote his fantasies..

I guess I'm perverted then. Might want to let my husband know. I'm sure he'd like to be in on it.

Seriously, I think that article is excellent. Yes, he answered a question on self gratification. However, in what context was that? Do you know?

Can you show me what you consider perverted?

    Ann anyone who cannot recognize that mark Driscoll is seriously unbalanced and perverted is totally confused themselves. here are some links;

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oyHtsU5z9U

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njYE-czENtg&feature=related

again it is unthinkable that you would take offense at the pastor who spoke about women who was showing their back side and defend this pervert.
This guy is clearly spelled out in Jude.

I don't know anything about Mark Driscoll, but what he said in the you-tube video sounds spot on to me. I would like Freeatlast to give a specific thing he said in this video that was wrong.
