    Good? Bad? Right? Wrong?

    HAMILTON — Last year, the Lindenwald Baptist Church held its first “1,000 Strong Easter Celebration Give-Away,” in which it offered a $1,000 cash — $500 each to a member and a guest — to boost Easter Sunday attendance.

    The church, which normally has a Sunday attendance of around 500, according to Pastor Randy Moore, recorded 1,137 in attendance that day, well-exceeding the goal of 1,000, and packed the sanctuary to the rafters.
    “A lot of our members gave up their seats and went to the foyer to listen,” Moore said.

    “We had a parking lot crew help direct traffic and a police escort to help everyone get out of here when we were done.”

    Even better, he said, 36 people gave their lives to Christ that day.
    It was such a momentous day that member Andy Judd was in the back room praying with the new converts and didn’t hear his name the first time it was called as a $500 winner.

    He ended up giving all of it away anyhow, including giving $100 each to two boys who were among the 36 saved that day.

    While I am not recommending their method of getting people to come and hear I have to say along with Paul;
    What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

    I didn't see anything in the story saying that Christ was preached.

    Check in 5 years to see if any of the "36 saved" are living their lives for Christ.

    peace to you:praying:

    Scandalous. I wouldn't get saved for less than $250.

    But seriously...yikes.

    I agree with freeatlast's assessment. You have to admire the church members giving up seats and those that won giving the money away.

    Now I’m not opposed to doing out of the ordinary things to get people to church—especially when they are creative---But when are people going to realize that getting 36 people to say a prayer & walk down an aisle—does not mean 36 people gave their life to Christ—it simply means 36 people went through a ceremony that many in the church wrongly equate to a salvation experience! To me personally its not the church gimmicks that are problematic—it’s the water downed version of salvation that is being preached that is appalling!
