Yes. There's very little difference between the two. The '77 uses old English for the Psalms.

It is one of my favorites, especially the Psalms. I do think the update is good on some levels, but still read the older version as well. I know many people who tried the update, then went back to the older version after a while. One who did that is our SS teacher.

I have the 1977 and the 1995 update. I prefer the 1977 edition and have it on my kindle app on my smartphone.

That would be a subjective personal decision.

NOW Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,

7 Then Herod secretly called the magi ,and ascertained determined from them the exact time the star appeared.

8 And he sent them to Bethlehem ,and said, “Go and make careful search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.”
9 And having heard After hearing the king, they went their way; and lo,the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was.

12 And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed the magi left for their own country by another way.
13 Now when they had departed gone, behold, an angel of the Lord *appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, saying,“Arise and take Get up! Take the Child and His mother ,and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.”
14 And he arose So Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother by while it was still night, and departed left for Egypt;.

15 and was He remained there until the death of Herod, that. This was to fulfill what was had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying,: “OUT OF EGYPT DID I CALL CALLED MY SON.”

16 Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its environs vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had ascertained determined from the magi.

17 Then that which was what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,:

NOTE: Seems like my electronic version of NASB (1977) was copyrighted in 1986.
Correct the above version from 1986 to 1977

    PSALM 23
    A Psalm of David.

1 THE The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.
3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil;,
for Thou art You are with me; Thy Your rod and Thy Your staff, they comfort me.
    5 Thou dost You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
Thou hast You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

As long as you mark the 2 glaring mis-translations in the 1977 NASB, I really like it. They are Exodus 21:22 and Luke 24:51. Both are corrected in the 1995 Update.

I don't think the differences between the '95 and '77 are as minimal as some would say. However, they are not night and day.

    Go with the 1995.
