Not me. I like the old NIV but the TNIV and the NIV 2011 has enough issues that make me say "there are better choices for me out there".

I'm not. I have an NIV Study Bible that works just fine. I would rather get an ESV or Reformation Study Bible if I bought another.

Not me. I don't like the NIV or any of it's brothers or sisters.

I am quite content with the NIV 1984 in my 3-translation personal library.

    • NIV 1984
    • NRSV
    • KJB

I don't care as much for the 2011 NIV. I like the NIV Study Bible with the 1984 NIV. It works great for me.

I am reading through the 2011 this year. So far it has not grown on me any more than the '84 edition did. I may buy a copy but I'll stick with the ESV.

I will not buy any study Bible translation. I'll just buy an unvarnished 2011 NIV :lean and mean, streamlined.

I was given a NASBU study Bible. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of the individual who bought it for me,but I'd rather do my own study. I keep commentary separate from the Bible as much as possible. I like making my own notes.

The NKJV is based on a defective textual base and the English is too awkward for my taste. The ESV picked up on the same malady.

I'm not a fan of study Bibles in general. I do have an ESV study Bible which gathers dust on my desk. Like Rippon I prefer to chew my own meat.

In 1611 would you have been against those modernizing versions like the Tyndale,Coverdale,Matthew's,Taverner's,Bishop's,Great Bible,Geneva and that new-fangled one...the KJV? Would you have just stuck with the tried and true Wycliffe or the Vulgate?

I guess a Model T will still get you there, but I prefer my modern truck, its easier to drive and is much more reliable and comfortable. Just like many things in life, improvements are a good thing. This even applies to the bible.
