Easy To Read Version

    Does anyone know anything about it? A friend let me peruse his copy and I read a few familiar passages that seemed to be done right. Also, it is true to its title--easy to read.

    It might be but I doubt it. The copy I looked at belonged to a Baptist pastor. Also I have several friends and family members who are members of the Church of Christ and none of them use it. The copy I saw has no footnotes or sidenotes, so any doctrinal bias would have to be in the translation itself.

    The Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) is a translation done by the World Bible Translation Center. It was originally published as the English Version for the Deaf (EVD) by BakerBooks.

    I did a little more internet research last night and it seems that there are actually two "Easy Read Versions"- the EVD and the newer EVR- and they have differences in the text.

    I have an EVD someplace, never have seen an ERV. Is there any evidence of Campbellite influence in the translations?

    Maybe. I borrowed my pastor friend's copy so I can read it more seriously. The only Campbellite influence I could think of checking out is their dislike of using the word "pastor", so I looked up Ephesians 4:11 and here is what it says:
    So there it is. All the well known translations say "pastors and teachers" or "shepherds and teachers."

    Mexdeaf, can you think of any other area where there might be a Campbellite influence in the translation?
