Nebraska Man was named in 1922 from a humanlike tooth which had been found in Nebraska. As creationists tell the story, evolutionists used one tooth to build an entire species of primitive man, complete with illustrations of him and his family, before further excavations revealed the tooth to belong to a peccary, an animal similar to (and closely related to) pigs.

I would say this site isn't a creationists site, far from it.

    http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/homs/a_nebraska.html

Osborn used the Nebraska Man in his antifundamentalist newspaper articles and radio broadcasts to tear down faith in the Genesis record (Phillip Johnson, Darwin on Trial, p. 5).

How many times has false or poor science been used to prove the Scripture wrong? I'll stick with the Word of God.

    Never.

This article admits that the scientists were wrong, were shown their error and the theory abandoned.

Now, how many times has Christianity (erroneously) used science to try to prove the Bible? The story of the NASA scientists that supposedly discovered a missing day and attributed it to the sun standing still in Joshua comes to mind. Another is invoking the Second Law of Thermodynamics to "prove" evolution is wrong. There are others.

I also find it curious that YECers use carbon dating when it supports their ideas and dismiss it when it doesn't.

Considering the formula used to Carbon Date things is not correct everytime they date something using it.

But in the day it was out it was used by these people to prove the Scripture to be wrong. Do a little reading on Smith and Osborn and read their quotes.

Like the Oxford books on history used the Hittites ( I believe it was them)to prove the scripture was wrong, then when it was found they were real people they re wrote the books on that stage of history. When they have spend much time to discredit the Scripture and are wrong, they just say this wasn't correct but they do not take back their discredit of the Bible.

Those that want to disprove scripture or prove there is no God will always use this to make their point. Never come back with a retraction, God speaks for and defends Himself everyday with the world that surrounds us.

The a priori assumption of many scientists (not all, and the tide is certainly shifting in this regard) is that there is no alternative to a mechanistic/naturalistic/evolutionary view of our universe. With this view firmly entrenched, they operate in a manner consistent with their worldview and look for ways to express what is observed in nature from that naturalistic vantage point.

It is not as if Science is trying to disprove God (cannot be done, neither can they -- or we -- prove Him!) or destroy faith (likewise), but rather, they are simply, for the most part, working out their beliefs.

Some scientists have an ax to grind against God and His church. They are very vocal, and at war with the concept of God in any number of ways, but I would suggest that this is not the mainstream scientist. Most probably never even think about God or His creative actions in the world unless or until confronted with evidence that gives them reason to doubt their a priori worldview.

We do ourselves no favors by carrying a war to Science and scientists that they are not actually fighting. It just makes us look like a bunch of back-woods hicks that have no clue (which in a lot of cases, we are...). Rather, it would be best to evangelize those involved in the scientific realm, then once their worldview changes, confront them with evidence of a creator God.

At the end of the day, it would be good to remind ourselves that Science is not the enemy of God nor the enemy of truth! Truth is truth, and all truth is God's truth. If Science discovers a Law that faithfully describes the operation of our universe, then what they have done, realize it or not, is describe a piece of God's majesty! That concept (describing an orderly God) was the heart and core of the advent of Science in our world, and what pushed Science forward to the point it is today. We should be able to celebrate that fact except that so many of us are running scared as if Science can somehow do away with God and God's creation... As if.

I believe if we teach our children the Scripture correctly, these who teach false science won’t be able to lead our children down false paths. Know the Scripture and accept Christ as your Savior, one can face these false teaching rather well.

When I was in school science was teaching the earth would freeze and we all would die. One of the reasons that I was home schooled in the 40’s and 50’s. My father said if he knew something was false there was no need to teach it as true. I know way back when I was in college I had a few professors who made fun of my beliefs and others who were Christians as well, in science, history, philosophy but my parents had taught me well.

Most kids look up to teachers and believe they are correct, if they say it or a text book has it in it, in 5 seconds they believe it and it can takes years to get them straight on it. I just believe laying down the ground work. I’m a creationist but I taught my children the evolutionism view as well. I’m a young earth guy and I taught them the old earth view as well.

I had to take two units of Science to finish my degree, one of the vourses required a 3000 word essay that I had to be a parent writing to the Suprentendent of schools on why both views should be taught.

That was a good exercise. Where I went to college there wasn't any room for creation science. I guess it is why people like Dr. Morris and Parker caught my eye in the late 50's, I believe both were at VPI at that time. Over the years I've come across many more and many have been slammed by acidemia.

Dr. Morris had actually taught at Rice University and had the same questions coming up, after several years he begin to see it from a creation stand point.

Not true. We're told to be transformed that we may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Rationality and critical thinking are much more than the cold nuts and bolts of forensic science.

To say that only those things demonstrable by what we call the scientific method are proven or provable is to present a corrupt view of true science, which includes what a man thinketh in his heart.

Many out there actually working in the institutions of science and education would disagree with you.

The war has been brought to us, and they are fighting it. (Have you been to Earth lately?)

Prefer the praise of Naturalistic scientists over an identity with your brothers and sisters in Christ, do you?
You haven't met many of those, have you?

Depends on what one calls "science." You've obviously fallen for the rhetoric. "Scientists" would have us believe they're just about observation and evidence, but they're about the philosophy of Naturalism more so, and reject the evidence that would suggest otherwise.

And the Church is the pillar and ground of the Truth.

When you say "science," do you mean "scientists?" Scientists are men, and men are corrupt, and the rule is that men hold the truth of God in unrighteousness.

You haven't been to Earth lately.

No body is running scared, except you.

If it were my tooth, they could have!

All of this has been of interest to me from the time I first heard of Dr. Morris and Dr. Whitcomb. I went to a meeting on this last week where two surgeons and a scientist gave a talk about how quick science will try and slam the Scripture and make fun of our beliefs. Many more than we think have an ax to grind with the Christians. Many of the scientist are atheist or agnostic, so their world view is much different than a Christians world view. In the smash mouth times of today, many folks like to talk so call smack or put down to people they disagree with.

Hey I think there are folks on this board that way, well maybe not, well maybe so. One of these days I'll agree with myself on something.

In these cases I revert to an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth (yes, pun is indeed intended).
