I frequently visit Nicaragua and do some volunteer work there, primarily related to animals, as I am a veterinary technician. During my recent trip I met a pastor from the small church in a rather remote area of the country. I tried to fing out if I can do anything to help his church, and he said that he would appreciate Bibles in Spanish. In particular, he needs giant-print Bibles for older people, and Biblical stories for the young children, to help attract them to the church as early in their life as possible. Bibles are not cheap there: for many Nicaraguans in remote areas, the price of one Bible equals to their weekly income. It is important to note that A LOT of those people are hungry for the Word, and very often they ask if I can send them a good Bible.
I looked for such books and found that most of the time they are very costly. I am wondering if anyone knows where can I buy low-cost or discounted books, may be used, as long as they are in good condition. Please, if you know this info, share it with me.
    God bless!

We go to Nicaragua each year and we have contacted Bible companies and they've given us great deals on Spanish Bibles. We work with a mission in the city dump in Managua where there is a city inside the dump. We train the teachers in the school there and keep the kids occupied while the teachers are receiving their training and we also work with a local orphanage. :) I can't wait for the time when I can finally get down there myself.

Which Bible companies? Maybe you can give me their info?

I usually go to Leon, Malpaysillo and a nearby village of Terrero, because my husband's family lives there.

It would be a few days before I could find out for you since I'm at the hospital with my 21 year old daughter waiting for her to have surgery for a pancreatic tumor. But I'd do Google searches and start contacting companies. I know Gideon was wonderful in sending a case for a friend of mine for a battered women's shelter. Maybe start with them!

Have you looked at Good Will or used book stores for Bibles?
