[Transcript from a prayer breakfast from last week.]

"We all live in the hustle and bustle of our work. And everybody in this room has weighty responsibilities, from leading churches and denominations, to helping to administer important government programs, to shaping our culture in various ways. And I admit that my plate has been full as well. (Laughter.) The inbox keeps on accumulating. (Laughter.)

"But then comes Holy Week. The triumph of Palm Sunday. The humility of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet. His slow march up that hill, and the pain and the scorn and the shame of the cross.

"And we’re reminded that in that moment, he took on the sins of the world -- past, present and future -- and he extended to us that unfathomable gift of grace and salvation through his death and resurrection.

"In the words of the book Isaiah: 'But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.'

"This magnificent grace, this expansive grace, this 'Amazing Grace' calls me to reflect. And it calls me to pray. It calls me to ask God for forgiveness for the times that I’ve not shown grace to others, those times that I’ve fallen short. It calls me to praise God for the gift of our son -- his Son and our Savior.

"And that’s why we have this breakfast. Because in the middle of critical national debates, in the middle of our busy lives, we must always make sure that we are keeping things in perspective. Children help do that. (Laughter.) A strong spouse helps do that. But nothing beats scripture and the reminder of the eternal.

"So I’m honored that all of you have come here this Holy Week to join me in a spirit of prayer, and I pray that our time here this morning will strengthen us, both individually as believers and as Americans. And with that, let me introduce my good friend, Bishop Vashti McKenzie, for our opening prayer." (Applause.)

It's good to see that his speech writer knows the Gospel ;)

There is also that little asterisk which is Sura 9 that allows for a true muslim to pretend to be anything but in order to advance their cause globally. The antichrist will use this exact method to garner the peace treaty he will break half way through.

Dude, Obama is not a Muslim. Turn off your am radio and that will become more clear. I'm not saying he's an orthodox evangelical Christian, but he's definitely no Muslim.

Obama is a chameleon, who will be whatever he needs to be to whomever he is with at the time.

He does not regularly attend church, and typically shows up in some church somewhere only when the national spotlight is on him. Easter, for example.

To top off what I just wrote, I would find it hard to believe that anyone (well...) on this board would accept his home church in Chicago as a true expression of a biblical Christian church, which would in essence negate his claim to Christianity as being merely a religious expression, trotted out when expedient.

Have you read Dreams FROM My Father (not of)? If he is not a muslim he does a pretty good job playing one.

Have you read it? What about it, in proper context makes you think he is a Muslim?

I haven't read it, thats why I was asking. From what I have heard it is a reflection of dreams he has given to him by his father. His father was a known muslim, and I have heard enough from BHO over the past couple years for me to believe if he is not one, he has an uncanny affection for the religion...an oddity for a professing christian.

So, that excuses an outright lie? Since when?

I didn't notice that we were talking about Reagan... Who, by the way did attend church -- the National Presbyterian Church in Washington DC. His practice was to enter into the balcony so as not to disrupt the entire service and cause the focus to be on himself rather than on worship of God.

No, it just points out that he's like all politicians. We should not be shocked at this sort of actions from a politician.

I was using Reagan to point out that Obama is like one of his predecessors when it comes to church attendance.

Reagan rarely attended church. I think it was only once or twice in his eight years as President. He even mentions this in his autobiography, "The Reagan Diaries".

    Correction: Attended church nine times.

I have not read the whole thing, but picked up to check out the quotes. All were either taken out of context or out of sequence.

I am not sure how President Reagan got brought into this...anyway, I have read that Reagan's advisors claim he regularly quoted from the Scriptures in serious conversation. I also saw where his adopted son said that it was not uncommon for him to be looking for his dad and to find him somewhere quiet, studying the Bible. While I cannot know what is in a man's heart, this speaks well for him.

As to Obama, I believe that he brought much of this on himself. Going to the New York Times (during the campaign) and telling Kristof that the Muslim call to prayer is the most beautiful thing he has ever heard when some of what it says would be considered blasphemous to most Christians. Add to this that he then recited the call to prayer in near perfect Arabic (as attested to by Kristof), which is quite strage. This is, perhaps, a simple rememeberance from his time in Indonesia, but it helped to start this whole thing. I believe that Obama and Kristoff compunded the problem by refusing, even upon repeated request, for the audio to be released of that interview. It made it seem as if there was something to hide.

Once that had happened, the "My muslim faith" quote (no matter if it is taken out of context) simply added fuel to the fire.

Reagan got brought into this because it seemed beneficial to one poster to try to make Obama look better by cutting down another man.

Muslim theology teaches that only Arabic is "inerrant" when reading/saying the Q'ran. Christian theology would simpler if only Hebrew/Aramiac/Greek were used.

Consider Wycliffe. They take good hearted people who are NOT experts in English, Hebrew, Aramiac, or Greek and send them to a country with no English speakers. They find a person who will talk to them in the local trade jargon and use him to invent a local written language and "translate" the Bible.

I asked a Wycliffe translator if they then tell the locals that they have the inerrant word of God in their language. He responded in the affirmative. Gives a new meaning to "inerrant." We have access to a half dozen good translations compiled by experts and the people on this list can't agree as to what the Bible "says."

Everything you said is true. So? Doesn't mean he's a Muslim. Doesn't mean he's a believer.

And he's certainly not the only president not to attend church services often. That doesn't make him a Muslim.

I don't care for the guy, but all this crap everyone makes up to make him look even worse than his record does makes the right seem petty and immature.

Sounds to me like you're just repeating the soundbytes from whatever media outlet you listen to. So his father was a Muslim. He only met him like once. So he was a member of a suspect congregation. So what? There have been a number of them.

Don't like the guy? I don't blame you, but the fact that the right feels the need to perpetuate these rumors and speculations compromises their integrity and believability at large.

Hey, you're the one who was pointing out non-attendance as a big flaw. Reagan was the same way as a president. They were just meeting you at your line of thinking.

No, you took part of his words out of context, let's look at them again:

His church attendance can only be understood in the context of the whole statement. Which can reasonably be argued that is nothing like Reagan.

    Thanks... Precisely.

Also, I never said that Obama is a Muslim. I was rather particular when I chose the word chameleon.
