Bad weather day!

    Mississippi and Alabama are getting slammed.

    Our power was out for several hours this morning after the first round came through and it's God's grace that I have power now, most in my area do NOT.

    Cell service is spotty so if you are trying to get someone here its best to text and text again. About half of the text messages are getting through most calls are not. Landlines are just as bad. I have VOIP and I can call out, but if you don't have power you don't have voip.

    We have gobs of huge trees down all over our county and my city (60 miles west northwest from Bham). At one point this morning we had 250,000 homes with no power.

    Culman (45 miles north of B'ham) just had a tornado go through its downtown that is reported to have damaged the courthouse there. I watched this come across the city on the the skycam network until it kncocked oout the power there. It was huge and definately on the ground. There will be significant damage there and they were damaged as we were from the round that went through at dawn.

    Oh wow! We aren't hearing anything about Huntsville.

    Walker county is entirely without power (that's where I am using the last of my laptop batteries) Cell service here is better but still spotty. 3G service is up this morning. Even Walmart iis closed!

    B'ham and Tuscaloosa were hit hard and that is what we are hearing about. I got to watch the Cullman tornado on tv as i came across. They had already called the national guard out by last evening before our power went out again.

    Bad stuff. :(

    Washington State is having our 3rd consecutive very cold spring. Snowed yesterday, been snowing in the passes most of the week.

    This is the predicted result of the ongoing climate change unfortunately first labeled "global warming." It is the ocean surface temperature which is increasing, not land temp. The water has a MUCH higher specific heat than dirt and rock. There is so much water that even a couple of degrees evaporates more water into the air and heat produces the energy which drives the storms.

    What's the solution when the south east has flooding and twisters at the same time? Houses built into hillsides?

    Well still no power. I'm posting from my cell so we'll
    see how it goes

    we might get power back by Tuesday.

    Phone service is spotty or non existant on land lines. Not much better
    on cell. Lines for gas are an hour or more
    long at the few stations that can pump.
    Walmart got a fuel shipment so they're runnig on
    generators and the parking lot is full.

    Huge convoys of trucks are coming in headed fo the hardest hit areas.
    I have pics of the damage but doubt I can post them from
    the phone.

    Wow WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!

    After being told that Alabama Power estimated us getting power back by Tuesday and after washing 5 tubs of clothes by HAND and hanging them to dry, TLB (bb name) and I walked into the house to get a soda and rest for a moment and not ten minutes later she was getting a text from her husband saying their power was back on and seconds later my power came on!!!!

    We consider ourselves very blessed! There are areas here that the word devastaion doesn't begin to describe. :( But the menagerie was held in the hand of the Lord and we have one pear tree and a few branches to clean up (and 5 loads of laundry still drying on the line) and that is all!

    I'm thankful you got your power back, MK. Another internet friend of mine has not been so lucky. She lost a loved one in one of the tornadoes and had to ID the body. So heartbreaking. I'm still praying for all those affected.
