    Psalm 111 (AV 1873)
Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart,
In the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
2 The works of the LORD are great,
Sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
3 His work is honourable and glorious:
And his righteousness endureth for ever.
4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered:
The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
5 He hath given meat unto them that fear him:
He will ever be mindful of his covenant.
6 He hath shewed his people the power of his works,
That he may give them the heritage of the heathen.
    7 The works of his hands are verity and judgment;
    All his commandments are sure.
8 They stand fast for ever and ever,
And are done in truth and uprightness.
9 He sent redemption unto his people:
He hath commanded his covenant for ever: Holy and reverend is his name.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom:
A good understanding have all they that do his commandments:
    His praise endureth for ever.

Just checking (not being contentious): Does your phrase, "the authorized text" mean the same thing as "the Authorised Version" (AV), which is the usual name for the KJV here?

That fact that the King James Version has been around for 400 years is remarkable. How many of these more modern translations will be around 400 years from now? Not many if any.

Although my church uses the ESV in our church bulletins, we still pray the Lord's Prayer in the KJV.

I would say that they will all be "around", but they may not be as widely used as the KJV on its 400th anniversary. It truly is an astounding work; its longevity paying tribute to that fact.

I have about 10-15 bibles, and all are KJV, with the exception of one ESV study bible that I studied from for a few days. I really did enjoy it, but I eventually went back to my KJVs. My mother-out-law bought me the four volume Hebrew-Greek Interlinears in English, and I have started studying from it. It has the actual Greek or Hebrew word, the word in english, plus the Strong's number as well. What little I have used it, I like it. Jay Green is the author of this volume. It seems to be a good'un.......I'll chime back in and let y'all know what I think about it, and give my two cents worth.

The KJV's longevity is a testament in itself about how good it is. I hear those who bash it for its age, but if it was good 400 years ago, its still good today, if you ask me.....and even if you don't ask me!!!:tongue3::laugh:

None tjhough would disagree if you would just not state that:

KJV is ONLY Bible version to use today
Kjv is BEST version available today
KJV Inspired by God/Perserved By God for today
KJV TR best Greek text available today

As long as you keep to is a great translation, good to study with etc none will ever disagree!

Very true Jesus Fan. I think the KJV is an excellent translation. It's not the one that I use on a regular basis but I consult it regularly, use it at funerals, weddings, and most of the time when I preach from the book of Psalms.

I'd bet you'd be hard pressed to find many that would disagree that the KJV was and is still good. As Jesus Fan pointed out, though, where many run afoul is their willingness to say other translations are also good, or dare they even say some might be better.

Happy Four-hundredeth birthday, thou King Jameth Bible!

Just kidding. It is the version I read 95% of the time.

What an impact that one Book has had on the English language and the whole world in general.

I wonder, however, if the fact that it has been THE English Bible for 400 years has to do more with the political power of England?
