Years ago(back in the 1980's), purely by accident, I discovered a document in my Bible(bound, when the Bible was manufactured), in the front, just before the index.

This document was called........“JAMES”, and it turned out to be a letter of appreciation, from the translators of the King James Bible, to the King.

As I read this letter, I was seeing it as a peace of antiquity, that really didn’t have anything to do with today; That is, until I reached the middle of the 5th paragraph, and my socks were blown off my feet.
    --------------------------------------------------
Here is a copy of the exact document that, that can be found in the front of most old KJV Bibles..........

    http://www.jesus-is-lord.com/kjvpref.htm

Note: Be aware, that dozens of “so-called” letters from the translators of the KJB, can be found on the internet, but this one is what was actually placed in King James Bibles.
    --------------------------------------------------
The section of this letter I am referring to, is where it was talking about two enemies of the KJB, that the translators were having to deal with, during their work..........
“So that if, on the one side, we shall be traduced by Popish Persons at home or abroad, who therefore will malign us, because we are poor instruments to make God's holy Truth to be yet more and more known unto the people, whom they desire still to keep in ignorance and darkness; or if, on the other side, we shall be maligned by self-conceited Brethren, who run their own ways, and give liking unto nothing, but what is framed by themselves, and hammered on their anvil;.......”

As I read these words I immediately saw the lasting significance these two enemies....
    --------------------------------------------------
Enemy #1 “Popish Persons”, who want to keep people in Spiritual darkness, so that they can have control over them.
They hate the KJB, because of it’s authoritative quality, that will lead people to actually believe that this is God’s Word, and find deliverance from all kinds of false teachings.

Enemy #2 “Self-conceited Brethren” who want to do things their way, so therefore the authoritative quality of the KJB, would be a threat to them.
I especially liked the wording.....“and give liking unto nothing, but what is framed by themselves, and hammered on their anvil”.
A Bible that is recognized as “God’s Word”, is really uncomfortable to people who want to come to their own conclusions about the Faith.
    --------------------------------------------------
Today, these same two kinds of people, still hate the KJB; Because it’s very existence and acceptance, is a threat to their version of Christianity.

And these were the same guys who told us that a variety of translations was essential to understand the scriptures.

I am sure that somewhere there are those who hate the KJV, thankfully no one like that posts here. They would not last long if they did.

Your assumption that people here hate the King James Bible is offensive.

I love the King James Bible. I was raised on it and still read it occasionally. It just isn't my preference today. Because I prefer something else doesn't make me a hater of the King James.

Hate is a terribly strong word! I have not met anyone who prefers to use another version that hates the KJV.

Why do you think one's willingness to use another translation, or even a preference for another thanslation, amounts to hatred of the KJV? I use the KJV often, but not as much as I use the NASB. So why does that make me a hater of the KJV?

    Hello Scarlett O.

Nowhere in the OP, did I point any fingers at anyone on the BB, but........
This is the internet and a few years ago, I was welcomed to this forum, by simply saying that I was a Baptist.(And I was being truthful.)

Now Satan himself, sitting at a keyboard, could say his was a Baptist.
    --------------------------------------------------
Over the years, I have gotten to “know” some of the people on this site, by reading the words that they have typed, and some of them have been a great help to me, in my quest of learning.

But when Jesus was asked, what would be the greatest sign of His return to earth, this is what He said..........
    Matthew 24:4
“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”

The wise Christian, will take EVERYTHING they read on the internet, with a grain of salt; Realizing that deception is running rampant, in these last days..........
    Ephesians 4:14
“That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;”

    --------------------------------------------------
I am sorry that my OP offended you, but there are a lot of people(even some professing Christians), that hate the KJB, as much as they hate God and hate you and me.

And we would be foolish, to pretend, that they don’t exist!

It doesn’t and I never said it did!
    Read the OP again.

Do you recognize any other version of the Bible, aside from one of the KJV's, as God's Word? Or are you uncomfortable about the fact that there are so many Bible translations which are indeed God's Holy Word?

Your version of Christianity is warped by your KJVOism. The KJV is not a threat to those who prefer other versions. That's silly. What doctrines are compromised by those who prefer the NIV,NKJ,NASB,ESV,HCSB etc.? Answer? Not a one.

It is equally foolish to assume that everyone who does not drink the KJVO koolaid hates the KJV. They may just hate false doctrine.

To hate the KJV is to produce modern versions. Anyone agree? Just wonder.

    Not at all.

That's the equivalent of saying, "to hate candles is to produce light bulbs".

And I must hate chicken because I ate roast beef tonight. I must hate my husband because I chose to go to see the horse today and have lunch at the barn.

    HUH???????

No. To believe that the KJV was a wonderful translation but one that has become outdated in it's language - and that we have since 1611 found many MANY new manuscripts that can give us even more insight into the Scriptures is what produces modern versions.

The correct title of the Poll is "Do you love the KJV?"
Would be nice if you had linked the entire discussion on it as well.

Big difference - but then again, why let facts get in the way?

Mexdeaf, I have no problem with candlesticks and light bulbs because men invented them.
Annsni, I have no problem with food -- I like to eat and hate others.

But the Bible is the God-speaking!!!! Let me say for the illustration: To hate the God-speaking is to produce the God-corruptly speakings.

I HATE KJVONLYISM.. because it is a false doctrine from Hell that is destroying churches.

    I LOVE THE KJV!..

Well, that would be true if anyone who wrote the faithful translations were haters of God speaking. But they were not.
