I've always loved the NASB1977. I have the update in giant print, and am thrilled the 1977 is due out this month again, in giant print.

But I got a real treasure for 25 cents at a garage sale this weekend. It is the Open Bible, NASB1977, with Christian Life Study Notes, leather bound.

It is small but clear print. The original owner must truly have been a lady of the Lord, or a missionary. I think about every verse is neatly annotated, and so far her insights are the sort that take your breath away.

Congratulations on your treasure--and to the original owner who diligently used the Open Bible before it came into your hands.

I have the same NASB1977 Open Bible in genuine leather. I have gotten lots of use out of mine over the years.

The Christian Life Study Notes are really amazing, as are the margin stars related to the Prophecies of the Coming of Christ and the How to Study the Bible essay in the front. I still have the 21-page Owner's Guide (with Self-Check Test) that was packed in the original box. Another nice feature is the Biblical Cyclopedic Index. Recently, I purchased Nelson's Biblical Cyclopedic Index, which is a paperback version of this valuable Bible aid.

While I do not use the Open Bible as often as I do some recently acquired Bibles, from time to time I do retrieve it from my Bible shelf and glean from the pages of this classic.

    How awesome!

That was my first study bible after I was saved. It's a good one.

One insight off the top of my head.....I'd have to look up the reference and haven't time now.

Scripture is saying not to withhold doing good when it is in our power.

Her notes agonize over her church cutting funds for Sunday School outreach for children--not enough revenue brought in for funds expended.

She really wrestled in prayer, begging the Lord not to smite her church down for not serving "the least of these." Wonders if this is the death knell for her apparently successful numerically church. Asking Him to show her attitudes in her own heart that contribute to this refusal to care about the souls of children.
